We were fortunate enough to be upgraded to the 2 bedroom suite on the 10th floor of the Andaz Hotel. The view of the New York Public library, and the surrounding city skyline was spectacular. The suite itself was enormous and well appointed. The entrance to the hotel is a bit understated and could be missed if you didn't see the small Andaz sign posted on the door. Although the check in procedure was not as seamless as I would have liked, the young staff did their best to expedite the process as our room was not quite ready for the 3pm check in. After arriving in our spacious suite, we understood why. The complimentary non alcoholic beverages, snacks and Nespresso maker are a nice touch that are a feature of most Andaz properties. The Andaz properties are suited to a more independent traveler. The lobby is very minimalist and the staff are only recognizable by their black attire and iPads. The first time you encounter this it is a bit unusual relative to your typical check in at a chain hotel. The second time you realize it is distinguishing feature of the Andaz brand.

This hotel is is great, with a fantastic location and large, modern rooms and an amazing bathroom. Young and friendly staff. The second floor has a big "kitchen" and bar area suited for dinners and parties, I would recommend it to young people!

Room Tip: Rooms in the North Tower don't have a view.

Recently stayed 2 nights on business at the Andaz. The hotel is rather anonymous from the outside with little sineage, but when our taxi driver eventually found it we were moved through the ultra-modern iPad-and-standing-staff arrangement very quickly. I had room 1019 which involved a slightly annoying elevator to the second floor and then a walk down another corridor to another lift bank. Once inside the rooms are very spacious (especially for the price) and modern. Simple modern bed and desk with mininalist style but very functional. Exceptionally good bathrooms with great walk-in shower and very well appointed. High quality toiletries. In the walkway there is a slightly odd (but functional) perspex warbrobe complete with ironing board etc.

Tried the gym in the morning which was perfectly adequate with a good range of equipment. Breakfast room is nicely styled, with very good menu and quality of coffee and food (bircher museli was excellent!). Quite busy and only complaint I would have is that the service was a bit slow.

Staff are unusually helpful and friendly for NYC. One even offered to walk round the corner on a freezing day to hail a cab on 5th Ave for me! All in all I would highly commend the Andaz in the context of the price we were paying. More recently I have stayed at the Mark which, whilst more upscale, isn't worth paying twice the price for. I would stay again on business and would very much consider if I was in NYC for leisure. Thoroughly recommend the Andaz!

On this trip to New York, we stayed at the Andaz 5th Avenue Hotel across from Bryant Park and The New York Library, for the first time. The hotel is great in every aspects. We had dinner at "Le Shop". The atmosphere is great, the food and service are both excellent. Do not miss the bar downstair, a real "underground" lively, trendy place. cannot wait to go back.

My husband and I stayed at the Andaz 5th Avenue for three nights in Spring 2011, and it was absolutely our best stay in NY. The hotel is located across the street of the Library, and they were nice enough to give us a room with a library view upon request.

We had breakfast in the restaurant every morning, and the preparations are very simple but delicious -- and extremely unpretentious. We also loved the free in-room snacks and non-alcoholic drinks (part of the Andaz brand) as well as the free drinks (coffee, espresso, water, and wine) in the lobby! :) Would definitely go back!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the Library
