Attended a wedding at the NY Public Library so this location is as close as you can get without sleeping in the library magazine section. Firstly let me say that if you are not a fan or not open to the idea of boutique hotels this place may make you feel out of sorts . But if you are, this place does delight. Gone is the reception desk with the stodgy guy saying can I help you. Instead you will find young and energetic staff standing in the lobby center near a console containing several work stations . Gone is the self serve coffee station. Instead you will find staff ready to make cup fresh brews of coffee or tea and wine. All gratis of course. Gone is the door man. Instead you will find staff greeting and bringing you in personally for check-in. Oh yeah they do valet your car(for a price of course) I think overnight was $80. A bit high but what the heck. it's midtown NY. They load your car at checout and it is a the front door ready to go. Rooms are spacius and modern. Bathroom is super large. Shower has a great foot bath set up . After a long day hoofing around NY this does wonders. TV is ok , AC is ok , Bed and comforter more than sufficient. . Has very good security in hotel in that no one can go up elevator wiithout swiping their card key. Had breakfast this am and it was very good. Good selection. Yes a bit pricey bit the local diners in the area are not much to rave about. so eat there and save yourself some time. Wish it was less costly but that is NY and it was a special day.

We stayed at the Andaz for the second time and were sadly a bit disappointed. It is a great hotel, we had a nice suite, the location is great, the staff are friendly. Design is cool, as is the concept of the hotel. But, it has lost the little bits that made it exceptional for us only a year before.
Staff: friendly enough but could have been more proactive, it's nice not to have to ask for things like drinks refills etc. Very helpful in giving us a late checkout though and certainly had a nice demeanor.
Room: good room (modern design) no free Internet tho on the giant in room screen, seems strange to charge for that when there is free wifi for your laptop etc. Drinks in fridge and complimentary snacks not refilled unless you ask for them, used glasses etc not tidied up / replaced. Turn down service was hardly noticeable, had to keep asking for toiletries to be restocked.
Location: excellent, really good links to transport from airport by bus and also near the subway. Bryant Park very close which is great.
In fairness to them, they dealt with our feedback well and if they can put right these little things it'll be great again.

Dear Mushette,

Thank you for your feedback!!! I'm glad you found our staff friendly and that you enjoyed the design of the hotel, but disappointed that you had to ask for refills on the minibar and a better turndown experience. We are definitely working on making sure that this is conisistent for future guests, and understand that the difference between good and great service all in the details.

We hope to see you again, and I hope you will contact me directly so I might assist with a future visit.

Warm regards,

Connie

We stayed at the standard for 2 nights prior to our stay, where i largely was disappointed. The Andaz was a class above, the rooms were double the size, with incredible high ceilings, very clean, and a fantastic place to stay while in New York. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. The space was well thought out with fantastic materials. The photos don't do these spaces the justice that was presented to us. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back again.

From the check in experience to the check out process, the Andaz hotel is true class. Each employee matched the well appointed rooms and facilities and I was very pleased with the overall experience. I am a Platinum member and this is by far the best hotel I have stayed at in the Hyatt family. Kudos

We were hardly out of the cab and they were there to help with our luggage and check-in was prompt and courteous. The rooms are fantastic. Breakfast and lunch were great, with the same super service from the servers. My only regret is that by telling everyone how great it is, their now very reasonable rates could go up!

Room Tip: Get a room facing 5th Ave. The view of NY Public Library is fascinating yet not at all noisy.
