As a fan of all Collichio restaurants, this one as his first might also be the best. It is extremely consistent, and anyone who can make a vegetable taste that good deserves major props! Exceptional service, exceptional food, one of my favorite places to dine!

We went to Craft as a "splurge" meal while on a trip to NYC. We had a lovely, low-key experience. The staff was attentive and helpful without being intrusive. The food was really really good. In particular, the corn bacon risotto and the bok choy were beloved. Not to take away from the entrees at all, but it was the accompaniment that separated this meal from other really good ones. Lots of nice extra touches including some bonus bites at dessert. The dining room is lovely and relaxed--after a weekend of hustle, bustle and NYC volume, it was an elegant oasis of a dinner. Thanks for a great experience!

Staff was very attentive and said that if we had any questions or concerns, to ask them. They did not ask whether or not we had any allergies or dislikes. So, the morsels of mackerel did not go over well with the vegan nor the patron who is allergic to fish. Once staff knew about something (water - without ice - for one patron), the whole team was aware. The scallops were done to absolute perfection! The eggplant was really tasty. The food is pricey, the decor is nice. The decor included placemats, not tablecloths, but linen napkins. I was surprised that they did not have a separate plate for the delicious! bread and the dinner plates were cold.

The room is a Man Cave by Met Home and the menu is an ode to craft of searing meat. Everything from the kitchen was delicious, with a couple of dishes being clever and funny to boot. A+ on wine, too. We ate and enjoyed. Then we paid. And there was no joy to the experience, just an exchange of cash money for heated-up animal protein. All front of the house staff (some more than others) were clearly phoning it in, or had been so over-trained that any humanity and spontaneity was beaten out of them. Other gripes include: an egregiously awful table (on a dead night where they took walk-ups), bizarre breaks in service (then water-refilling every 2 minutes), no pause between apps and mains, and side dishes arriving out of sequence.
