I stayed at Jazz on Amsterdam Ave for 4 nights in January, I was booked at jazz on the park, but that hostel got closed, so I got an e-mail about it and had to re.book to Jazz on Amsterdam. It looked like a nice place at first, but the people working there did not make it a pleasant stay.
The rooms are ok, and they keep the place pretty clean. But the radiator made a hell of a lot of noise every night, the lights went out in the bathroom every night as well, and the promised breakfast was old and dry bagels. The lounge in the basement is the best part, but the staff did not inform all of the travelers that they actually had a lounge! And that brings me to my main concern...
I don't expect fantastic service when I stay at a hostel. But I expect to be met by people that actually care somewhat for their job, that can answer questions and gives you the information that you need. And that they fix the lights when its out in all bathrooms on one floor. None of that happened at Jazz on Amsterdam. The staff needs to learn what it means to work with people, or find a new job.More
