“EXCELLENT OPTION”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 4, 2012

I travelled with my family, total 6 persons, and stayed at the upper apartment. We found it very clean and nicely decorated. The 2 double rooms are spacious and the 3rd one is smaller than we expected but ok for children and young people. The area seemed very safe, even in the evening, the street was quiet , supermarket (24 hours open) and subway are close by and it was nice to return "home" at the end of the day. We are gratefull to Bernardo and Maite for all the help they gave us about things to do and how to get to most places. We would definitly stay there again.

I stayed here for one week with my mom. Bernardo really went out of his way for us. When we arrived, he showed us the pathway, the pharmacy, and helped us buying metro passes. We sat together every morning as he was explaining us the things to see and do, and how to get there. And when we left he helped carrying our suitcases to the metro station.
The room was abolutely gorgeous, very big, with a little kitchenette (fridge, toaster, microwave, coffee and tea,...) and spacious bathroom.
We felkt perfectly safe going out at night. Yes, it's a bit far from the centre but the subway A or D line brings you to Times Square in about 20 minutes. We preferred to pay less for a big apartment in Harlem, then to pay more for a tiny hotelroom in the centre.

If we come back to New York, we'd stay here again.

My husband and I had a great stay at San Fermin B&B. The room is perfect, spacious, super clean in a typical NYC house--exact how I expected. It is in a nice area of Herlam, The neighbourhood is quiet, clean and safe. San Fermin is very 3 minutes walk to the nearest subway and C-store, and there is a bigger supper market if you walk 2 minutes more. You can very easily access to everywhere, if you like walking, it is only 15-20 minutes walk to central park. It is also very easy to access to Laguardia---by bus (5 dollars) or by taxi (25 dollars). The owner, Bernado and his wife, are super super nice, patient and willing to offer help. If I go back to NYC, this is where I'd like to stay again!

Room Tip: I had a room which was not by window, it was very quite. But i think even the rooms by the window ar...

This place is true value for money in a magnificent city where accommodation can be expensive. The apartments are located in a quiet and picturesque Harlem street close to a multitude of shops and just a few minutes walk from the subway that will whisk you to Times Square on the express train within 15 minutes. The rooms are spacious and clean with access to wi-fi and ours had an efficient air-condition unit that was very welcome at the end of those hot and humid days we experienced when we visited in June. Host Bernardo made our stay ever more special with his gracious welcome on arrival and regular and helpful advice and guidance during our week-long stay. On the issue of safety, we can only reinforce that Harlem has changed - for the good. We felt safe and secure but took exactly the same precautions as we would when walking in any city at night. We used our common sense and loved every minute of our stay and will definitely be back.

Heading to Harlem for two nights at the San Fermin B&B worked out really well for me before I met up with a larger group of friends and moved downtown. The neighbourhood felt safe with lots of people around and the subway was about 200 metres/600 feet from the B&B. Starbucks is also only about 200 metres away so it was easy to grab a coffee and quick bite of brekky before jumping on Bus route 10 along Columbus Way (down the west side of Central Park into downtown NYC). It's super easy to catch the train all the way from JFK airport as the only there is only one switch of trains at the end of the airport train line. Bernardo, the B&B owner, is extremely welcoming and he's a wealth of information that you won't find in guide books. The room was twice as large as I expected and there were two wardrobes, a safe, a very new bathroom, fan, AC, flat screen TV etc.The little kitchenette and table set up is handy if you like to make your own tea/coffee and breakfast. This B&B would be a good location if you are visiting Columbia University as it is only one subway stop and a short walk away.

A very great place to stay in NYC! Although we visited NY for the first time, Bernardo make it feels like home. He provided us with many ideas and was very helpfull when we arrived.

The place is a short walk from the metro station (blue and orange line). Waiting takes certainly not longer then 5 minutes, great metrosystem.

We stayed on the upper floor (appartment) in a party of 6. The rooms are spacious and clean. We also reserved a babybed, and got a brand new one!
Wi-fi is available but only in the kitchen (which is well equiped), but the connection is not that strong. That could be better...On the first level is an laptop available for guests.

Harlem is great and absolut safe. We felt very safe on the streets even in the late night. In the direct neighbourhood is a supermarket, ATM, pharmacy, Starbucks, Dunkin'' Donuts and Subway.

We definitely wll return to NYC one day and we think that we will stay in San Fermin again. We can recommend this B&B to everyone and it sure deserves the 1st spot at Trip Advisor!
