“Great Location”
Reviewed February 19, 2014

We arrived late on Thursday 13th Feb for my birthday. We luckily managed to get an upgraded room on floor 19. It was a massive room with a huge bed. The bathroom was amazing. The only comment i'd make, its only small, is to have a full length mirror in the room, I didn't notice this at all. The reception were extremely helpful and as were the concierge. It was an ideal location for times square, literally a 5 minute walk. It was still quite loud, if you want peace and quiet...don't go to New York. If I went back to New York I would use this hotel again and would recommend this hotel to anyone. If you don't book bed and breakfast, don't worry. There are deli's right on your doorstep. Plus it is the theatre district, you can get dinner when ever you want!

Room Tip: Ask for an upgrade when you book, if there is one available you should be able to get it. Also the h...

Had a perfect hotel experience! Reserved 2 standard rooms thru an advance purchase option back in November. However, one week prior to arrival I noticed that the regular rate for deluxe room accommodations were less expensive than what I had paid. Recognizing the drop in rate, the hotel upgraded both rooms at check-in. The hotel also surprised my sister (who stayed in 2nd room) by delivering her a 50th birthday amenity. Finally, the rooms are just as nice and modern as they were back when the hotel opened some years ago. Package all this together with a perfect location (adjacent to the "E" subway line) and super friendly staff, and no other hotel in Manhattan compares!

Booked as a Rewards customer, we were first given the wrong room (booked a King, was given 2 doubles). Called downstairs and they immediately sent someone up with keys to a King deluxe corner room on the 29th floor with an excellent view of 8th Ave and 44th Street, The room was well appointed and very well sized and was just a short 2 block walk to Times Square.

Didn't have a chance to spend much time in the hotel, but remarked to my wife how impressive everything looked. We asked one of the porters to recommend a breakfast diner and he sent us around the corner to a nice place on 9th Avenue. Before checking out, after a long morning of walking, we relaxed in the lounge area just outside the restaurant.

When it was time to leave, I asked the porter for a cab to Penn Station. He said he'd be happy to get me a cab, but recommended that I take the subway if I wanted to save some money. I told him i was not familiar with NY Transit, so he offered to take us to the subway station (just a few steps from the front door). He walked downstairs with us, showed me which ticket to buy at the kiosk, and pointed us in the direction of my platform. Definitely service beyond my expectations!

I'll definitely return to the Intercontinental on a future trip to NYC!

Spent two days at the hotel with some pretty horrific weather. Check in was friendly quick and efficient. The hotel is about three years old and the rooms and facilities were excellent. Had a quiet room on the back of the hotel which was very quiet and peaceful. Very comfortable beds and excellent concierge service that had unlimitless suggestions for dinner. Good location and easy access to subway (under hotel). If you want to be in the Times Square area the location being one block away means convenience without been in the thick of it. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

Although the sky suites are well equipt & comfortable they are quite small - however the views over the Hudson River were great.
Helpful staff throughout our stay & a very helpful concierge booking our theatre tickets & restaurants last minute for us.
Ideally located for sightseeing, shopping, eateries, theatres etc.
I would definitely stay again when passing through NY.

I am writing this at review at home on 2/13/2014 the day NYC is getting hit with a another huge winter Nor'easter storm. Stayed in NYC for 4 nights for a school event for my son. We had planned on staying 6 nights until news of this storm approaching and that it would be for sure hitting NYC. We live in New York and had traveled by car and decided to get out of the city on 2/12/2014, the day before. I was travelling as a handicap with a wheelchair which compounded the problem. We had trouble getting around the city beforehand and would have been hotel bound during the storm. The hotel management would not waive a $150.00 fee for leaving earlier due to the storm. I regret writing this because it was a great place to stay and would have booked again in the future. We had to wait a lengthy time period to speak to Manager (Maria). Only after some back and forth about their policy, Maria agreed to compromise and charge $75.00. Still not happy. Money in the end was not really an issue, but was just bad taste on the hotels overall seal of approval by me. It is all about making the customer happy. RIGHT Indeed, they did get that snowstorm. I thought it was in very bad taste on their part. P.S Most staff were wonderful and helpful. Especially the doormen!!! Very polite and went out of their way to help me. Lounge, could use some improvement, as far as waitress staff (a little sluggish) and their lighter menu offered, while having a drink.

Room Tip: If requesting a room for disabled, make sure the bathroom has a roll in shower.

We stayed here for a long weekend on a family shopping/sightseeing trip. The hotel is of a very good quality. Rooms are quite small but well furnished and presented. The area however is not particularly family friendly. Quite a a number of "gentleman's clubs" Can be found very close by. Whilst this will be ideal for some it does not make the ideal family location. There is also quite a distance from the smart shops of fifth Avenue. However, it's very well situated for the theatres and Times Square. Food at the hotel is pricey as are other extras such as Wi-Fi at $15 per day so beware when you book and make sure you factor in a budget for lots of extra charges.
