I spent four days here last week. One of the best locations if you plan on theatre or times Square visits. It is also easy 5 minute walk to restaurants on 9th avenue. Whatever you spend on an upgrade you will get back 6 times over because you seldom need a taxi, unless you cant make the walk to central park. I am usually dependant on a cane, and i only had a problem when 8th ave was busy at rush hour. David the bellman was super. My husband and i stay here at least 4 times a year. It also has great security, and i have never ever seen strange people wander into the lobby, as i have at other NYC hotels.

I read many different reviews most of which were great, some with one concerns, but I was able to get a friends and family rate, so it was a no brainer.

We got there early and we went to a local diner and they called my cell phone at 12:30 that our room was ready. We paid the upgrade to a higher floor with Internet included and we were given a room on the 35th floor. Check in was quick, we had no problems ever using the room key in the elevator. The room was a good size and he bathroom was great and the shower was large and awesome which is big for me.

We had a temporary problem with the Internet, but they sent a guy up who helped us with the problem quickly. The bellman were friendly when we asked about restaurants or hailed us a cab. Front desk was super friendly and when we asked for a late checkout of 1pm...she said she could give us 2pm Everything is new and clean...bed was great....literally 100's of restaurants within a few blocks. Right by all the shows, actually walked about 6 blocks to take th Circle Line Tour.

And when I realized on the plane that we had left my iPod and headphones in the room, I spoke to security today and its already in the mail via UPS. What a pleasant surprise ....I would not stay anywhere else when I return. Great job by everybody that works there!!!

Spent a week with our family of 5 (3 teenagers).
Kids slept in one room which was big enough. This hotel is what you need if you will be spending time visiting the city. Rooms are good size, all in good shape, and quiet.
At $30.00 plus for breakfast it is important to get your breakfast included in your rate. Breakfast by the way is good. Located two blocks from the very center of Times Square. Extremely useful is that the Metro station is right in front of the door. Internet wifi costs $14 per day per device! Staying 7 days with 7 devices was going to be expensive so the friendly receptionist suggested I buy an Ambassador card which gives you free internet, as well as two free bottles of water per day and some amenities, points etc. Was certainly worth it. No pool but has a 24 hour gym.

After pouring over hundreds of Manhattan hotels and review sites, we settled on the InterContinental Times Square and we were thoroughly pleased with our choice when we arrived! I was very picky when deciding on our hotel - looking for a "roomy" space, good amenities, convenient location, and luxury feel at a semi-affordable price - and the IC Times Square was the perfect choice!

All of the reviews about location are true...it is truly convenient to all the tourist attractions with a great Midtown location. We were able to walk almost anywhere within 15 minutes and it was great to be so close to all the theaters so our evening walks were short (came in especially handy when I was walking in heels.) There is a subway entrance right next to the hotel which was so easy. I've heard a few comments about the Port Authority area being not as nice, but I never felt like we were in a lesser/unsafe area comparatively to the rest of Midtown. The entrance is located on W 44th just a few steps off of 8th Ave, and you really were close enough to Times Square to walk easily but far enough away that you didn't feel trapped in the madness of Times Square.

The service was excellent and we have traveled extensively to know what we expect. We never experienced any issues with the front desk staff, bell men, housekeeping, etc - everything was pulled off without a hitch. A very clean, modern hotel that served as an oasis in the heart of Midtown. It was a peaceful urban retreat off of the busy streets and did not feel overcrowded once. Quiet hallways, could not hear any street noise except for the occasional siren. We are from a suburban area and my husband is a very light sleeper - he had not trouble sleeping here.

We were told that an upgrade to a higher floor beyond the basic rate we had reserved would require purchasing the $200 Ambassador Club membership (1 free night to use at a later date, free wifi, upgrades, etc). We debated this for a few minutes and declined the offer. However, the awesome front desk clerk gave us the room upgrade anyways (16th floor & a corner room - I was ecstatic!!) My husband & I were there to celebrate my 30th birthday & I just happened to mention this at check-in (after already receiving the room upgrade) and the same clerk arranged for champagne & chocolate covered strawberries sent up to our room. What a great welcome to NYC! They really know how to spoil their customers at the IC!!! When the champagne & strawberries were brought up, I again mentioned my birthday to the porter and he exclaimed that a birthday cake was necessary & that he would be right back. Within minutes, a candle lit Happy Birthday cake arrived at our door! Thank you IC Times Square for the wonderful start to my 30th birthday trip to NYC (especially after a long day of traveling!)

A few notes on the room itself, definitely a spacious room in Manhattan's terms. Small compared to Vegas style hotel rooms, but we had plenty of room to move around & did not feel claustrophobic at any point. The king size bed was heavenly after long days of running around NYC. Very happy to have a keurig & a laptop sized in room safe, as some NYC hotels did not offer these. The bathroom was also fabulous - plenty of room, decent sized space for all of our toiletries, and a gorgeous, roomy shower! The rainfall shower head & handheld attachment had great, high water pressure which is a necessity for me. Very clean, very modern, luxurious feel. Free Wifi was not a deal breaker for us because we had internet service on our iphones/ipad & were truly not in the room that often to even have used the wifi.

Would definitely stay here again on our next trip to NYC!!!

Room Tip: 1602 - Corner room on 16th floor was great! We were semi close to elevators, but did not have any hallway noise. Could see the Westin out one window & Hell's Kitchen out the other as we were on the backside of the hotel. 16th floor is an upgrade, but it was high enough to not have any street noise other than a few sirens, which we never heard after falling asleep.

We stayed in the hotel for 6 nights in early July. Two adults and two teenagers in the same room, sharing two beds but still had plenty of space for cases etc. Room was great with nice view over the west of Manhattan , great beds and bathroom (which had huge walk in shower (wet room style) versus a bath/shower. Staff all very helpful and pleasant. location was best thing. One block from Time Square but far enough away so you didn't feel you were in the madness of the Square. Good for subway connections to all of Manhattan (we travelled about quite a bit from the station which was 15 yards from the hotel front door.) Also walking distance to main shops, Central Park etc. Really enjoyed our stay and have no issues recommending this hotel.
