My first time to try this hotel and was impressed. Have stayed in multiple NYC hotels and can say the experience here was among the top. Was upgraded to a 35th floor corner room, very clean but a little on the small side. When we arrived there was a bottle of Prosecco and some chocolate covered strawberries waiting for us. Very comfortable bed and pillows, bathroom did not have a tub but the Rainfall shower was large and very good.
Coffee maker, safe, hairdryer, computer, wireless network in every room. Ice maker by the elevator.
Great location at 8th Ave and W44th about a block west of Times Square, with access to the 42nd street metro A C &E 10 steps from the front entrance. No comment on the service as we really did not need any help, room cleaning, turn-down service was fine and the CA VA bar staff was good.
If I had any complaint it was that the satellite (I assume)TV reception was poor and the weather was clear.
Would recommend this Hotel, will stay here again.

My husband and I stayed at the Intercontinental Hotel at Times Square in New York City in June The stay was wonderful. The room was much nicer than I had expected. When we went into the lobby, I was not sure what kind of room we would have. The room was very clean, very nice, Wonderful white fluffy bathrobes and slippers, wonderful bedding and a very comfortable bed awaited us. The room was very well designed.

We definitely would stay here again.

Arrived at 8.30 am after 24hrs of travel from Singapore room was not ready as we expected but staff were helpful to put a rush on room. very nice room 3205, clean, really comfortable bed and turn down chocolate treats were amazing. Situated very close by all the craziness of Times Square but far enough from the noise, great position for first time to New York.

Right off of Times Square. Clean and nicely decorated. Friendly staff. I would certainly stay there again. Amenities were nice and they were replenished every day. Be aware that check in is not until 3pm and they don't seem to be ready to release rooms before then but they do have a check in for luggage while your room is prepared.

After a long flight from London last week and what felt like a similar length taxi journey from JFK, we arrived in the pouring rain. The staff outside the hotel were too busy talking to each-other to offer any assistance with the luggage. I couldn't resists a sarcastic "thanks" as I lugged two suitcases past them into the hotel while drenched from the rain.

We had a room on the 12th floor which was nice (apart from the linking door to the next room, which had a young child who evidently liked to have a good scream at 6am). The shower was amazing and the beds comfortable.

This hotel adopts a 'you move it, you own it' policy, as I found out when I picked up a small bottle of Evian water, which instantly charged my credit card $9. More expensive than rocket fuel? Quite possibly.

I ordered room service during the early hours one evening and was pleasantly surprised with my chocolate cake dessert, which cost the same amount as the previously touched rocket fuel bottle. The gentleman who delivered the room service was very polite.

We had a drink in the hotel bar most evenings before leaving for dinner in Manhattan. The bar has a great atmosphere and the fire is lovely (to warm you up once you've been left standing in the rain). The drinks are pricey, but in my opinion, worth every penny (or cent). We did not eat at the hotel restaurant.

The wifi in the hotel is expensive, but on the bright side, at least they haven't implemented a mechanism where your credit card is automatically charged $15 when you open your laptop up (don't get any ideas, IC). There's free wifi in Starbucks or McDonald's across the street if you're in need to write a TripAdvisor review, though I suggest a stroll through Central Park instead.

The hotel staff will give you an umbrella if you ask (If you're British, don't ask for a brolly, as I got laughed at) when it's raining.

When leaving to head back to JFK, I asked the staff outside the hotel to hail a taxi to JFK. They refused on the basis none were available, and insisted on us using a private car conveniently parked outside the hotel. We felt like we had no choice, so we hopped in, and watched as the driver handed the staff member a crisp note. Now I understand why at that particular moment no taxi's were available...

All in all, the hotel is in a great location a few minutes walk from Times Square. The hotel bar is lovely for a drink before dinner. The staff at the check-in desk were polite enough, as was room service, but the staff outside the hotel need to be retrained/spoken to/left in the rain as they genuinely left us with the feeling that we'll never use another Intercontinental Hotel again.

We stayed 4 nights here , what a great hotel , fab room , we were on the 26th floor and had a triple aspect room looking towards time square "wow" , hotel very clean , all staff very friendly , we had breakfast there a couple of times and the selection was great , I am gluten intolerant and they went out there way to supply me with gluten bread etc for breakfast each morning .
We can't wait to come back and I would highly recommended this hotel , subway station next door and time square just 5 mins walk away , while we there we were watching them film a film opposite on the road , we had a birds eye view from our room !!!!!!
We can't wait to visit again

As a paid ambassador member, we have stayed in various Intercontinental hotels around the World with really great experiences and have received fantastic service in most locations. The Intercontinental Times Square, while in a good location with close proximity to Times Square, really lacked in many areas and fell far short of our expectations.

As we were traveling with a toddler, space is very important for us -- we've previously stayed at the London with really fantastic sized rooms as well as the Parker Meridien where the rooftop pool and frequent upgrades for Starwood members are fantastic perks. (In fact, the family we were traveling with on this trip actually stayed at the Parker Meridien and when we visited their upgraded room, it really made me feel like our room was a cave in comparison).

We arrived around 9:30pm on Sat of a long weekend and upon exiting from the taxi, despite traveling a toddler and clearly needing some assistance with luggage/stroller, etc, received absolutely NO offer of help from anyone. We walked into a semi-empty lobby and sat down at the Ambassador check in desk and were given a room on the 7th floor. We weren't offered any help with luggage at all.

Our first room was just OK by normal hotel standards, and while we realize that Manhattan hotels are notorious for meager square footage, my husband and I were both under the impression that as Ambassador members, we would be guaranteed an upgrade. Of course, we didn't know that an upgrade at the hotel merely means a higher floor, same size room, or a lower floor room which was fractionally larger. The room left us severely underwhelmed.

We requested a room change and were given a room on the 22nd floor. The room had great views, but was smaller than our first room. While the room was very clean, I am puzzled by the lack of a duvet cover on the beds. Instead, comforters are sandwiched loosely between a top/flat sheet and an ivory "coverlet" which is slightly thicker than a top sheet. In all the years of staying in luxury and not-so-luxurious hotels, this is the first one in which comforters are left loose and able to slip out from the 2 "sheets" sandwiching it in. I find this bedding really puzzling and somewhat odd (and hope that the comforters are dry cleaned in between each guest stay because otherwise, this is REALLY unsanitary).

We ordered room service a few times and have to commend the room service staff for being extremely friendly and helpful, unlike the lack of attention/service we received downstairs.

Aside from the lack of offer for anyone to help us with luggage at check in, we were also completely ignored when we were looking for a taxi at the front of the hotel. Initially, one of the doormen offered to get a cab for us, but then another person came up to him to ask a question and he completely "forgot" to try to hail us a cab and then proceeded to chitchat with the other door/bell man standing outside. Exasperated by this, we ended up just hailing our own cab.

The combination of all of these issues really left us completely underwhelmed and questioning whether we should continue our membership in the Ambassador program.

Room Tip: Rooms higher up have good views and are more quiet.

Dear Blueblood2007:

First and foremost, thank you for being a loyal InterContinental Ambassador. We truly appreciate your feedback, as you serve as a consultant to help us improve the quality of our services. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed our location and the service in our In Room Dining department. We apologize that the service at reception and the door was less than welcoming. This is unacceptable, and we will be sure to revisit our training protocol. While we believe our rooms are of superior quality, we do have less options for room types than some other InterContinentals (for instance, our Studio Suites are a large, open space rather than traditional suites with a door between the living and bed areas), and we do apologize if there was any miscommunication regarding the size of the rooms. Many hotels of our caliber do consider higher floors to be upgrades, as is reflected in the varying rates based upon floor level. We do hope that you will give us a chance to restore your faith in our hotel. We welcome the opportunity to make your next stay a flawless one.

Warm regards,

Executive Office
