“Great Location, Thats it...”
Reviewed November 21, 2012

I stayed at the interconti a week ago, location is great, but not much to say about the rest.
I know that rates in New York are expensive, but if you are paying 600 dollars the night, the least thing you expect is to have a turn down service, never got it. The first morning we went for breakfast on their restaurant, the menu is small and they dont have any choices, for example fruit plates or so, on nineth avenue you can find a dinner with great food and unbeatable service for 20 dollars a person, another thing that I can not understand is that they charge 13 dollars for wifi service, come on 600 dollars and is not included!!!
The doormen are great always willing to help, same with the concirege girls really helpful.

Room Tip: Get higher floors, they have better views...

Dear Lumito69:

Thank you for your review. I am glad to hear that you enjoyed our location and our customer service. I will be sure to pass along the kudos to the door and concierge teams. I apologize that you were not offered turndown service during your stay. We do offer this upon request, and if you reach out to me or one of my colleagues at the hotel, we will be sure to note your profile so that you receive the service on future visits. We are fortunate to have so many dining options within walking distance, and I am happy to hear that you found some neighborhood favorites. I appreciate your comments regarding breakfast selection, and we will certainly keep this in mind as we devise future menus. While I agree that complimentary wifi service would be a great amenity, we do find it necessary to charge a nominal fee in order to provide a superior connection. I hope that you will reach out to me directly the next time you are traveling to New York City, so that I can personally ensure your stay is flawless.

Warm regards,

My dad and siblings met there to stay in NYC, and for the most part, the accommodations were fine. Our room was comfortable, clean, and quiet; the elevators are extremely quick - never had to wait (and we were on the 14th floor), and the service desk service was friendly. In addition, the concierges and valets were very helpful, and the subway was right next door. There were two shortcomings: very expensive internet - in this day and age, when one is staying at what is considered a deluxe hotel, one should have internet included. The fact it was not, makes it seem like a cheap, penny-pinching second-rate establishment, as opposed to a deluxe hotel. The other pitfall was that when we all went down to meet for breakfast for the eggs benedict on our final day together, the restaurant was hosting a private event and not serving the hotel guests; we were never notified, and all they had available was scattered seating in the lounge with a $19 very small buffet (that was maybe worth $7.00 at most, especially since there was no place to sit down together). They said it was a last minute reservation. We had three rooms there, and none of us received any notificaiton that the restaurant was going to be unavailable. Evidently, someone was supposed to put a notice under our door, but they never did (they missed all three rooms - on two different floors). We did report this to the manager, who said he could do nothing because the restaurant was owned by a different company. They were sorry, could not accommodate us, but they did work hard to find us another place to eat that turned out to be great, so it all worked out okay in the end - just a bit of an inconvenience with having to change our plans. Regarding customer service, they were all pleasant and empathetic, but no one seemed to have the authority to rectify the situation or provide some sort of compensation to the guests when the guests were inconvenienced by their lack of communication or services. All in all, we did have a pleasant stay. If the hotel management is interested in improving their services, I recommend: including internet in the cost of the room (even the most basic rooms), increasing the number of benches or seating areas in the lobby (there are only two benches), and offer niceties that polish the service and entice people to want to return (such as coffee in the lobby, extra seating to wait for others, and a little book in the room that describes the hotel, its history, and the surrounding area, including nearby churches, restaurants, and a map to all the theaters).

Room Tip: Make sure you're higher than the 7th floor - our room had a nice view. There were some in our g...

We had a room on the 18th floor which had an amazing view! The location is perfect with the Subway entrance next door. Beds were really comfortable and the facilities were great. Only negative is the wifi was prohibitively expensive and these days most hotels offer a complimentary service. Great coffee making facilities in the room but not so easy to make a nice cup of tea.
Spotlessly clean. Friendly staff. Glad we made the right choice.

Room Tip: The higher the better

Dear Kainic:
Thank you for the great review! We are delighted that you enjoyed our plush bedding, breakfast menu, and our customer service. While I agree that complimentary wifi service would be a great amenity, While I agree that complimentary wi-fi would be a nice amenity, the current pricing we get from our internet provider to ensure great connectivity (double the bandwidth and double the amount of routers in the hotel) means we still have to charge a small fee. I hope you found the speed and signal superior! We look forward to your future visits.

The InterContinental Times Square has the advantage of being a block back from the Square, so exceedingly convenient for theaterland but avoiding the swirling crowds and a much quieter location. The rooms are large, comfortable and well-appointed, decorated in beiges, creams and browns with touches of self-patterning. It all makes for a relaxing environment. Good sized desk and ergonomic chair; the full size computer screen is a nice touch - but you can't turn if off, so if the whirring noise irritates you have to send for maintenance to disable it. Friendly, helpful staff. Shirts cost $13 or $15 to launder.
