I had to go to NYC for work and booked this hotel because of the price and location. It was actually everything I needed. I wanted to be somewhere close to Penn Station and close to the Minskoff Theater (Lion King)

I paid $300 per night (including all taxes and fees) over a weekend and it was steps away from Times Square. I also had a corp. discount. There were also some great restaurants nearby, which the concierge recommended.

Overall, I was very happy with this hotel and would recommend it for business travelers or even families.

This is my first visit to the IC at Times Square. Usually I will not pay to stay at this price range, however, I used the Chase PC Credit card free night certificate, which provides an excellent value.
Check-in was relatively quick as the area was pretty full. We were welcomed warmly by the receptionist (which turned out to be the manager on duty). My Platinum status was recognized, and despite it should not mean much we were upgraded. In the end we got a corner room with great views.
As the room was not ready we looked for the bell man to store out luggage, but as the wait was around 5 minutes, we already got a call back from the front desk that the room was ready.
The room itself was great. It was very specious for NYC. Nice view of the street below. Big nice shower and bathroom. The room contains a computer as well as WiFi and wired connections (at a cost). We had some problems with the connections and billing but they were resolved immediately and without a problem.
The hotel is well situated at 44th street and the corner of 8th Ave. It is a big hotel with a lot of coming and going. Elevators were never a problem (just mind that the first couple of elevators only go to the 7th floor). As usual with IC, there was no special perks (no free breakfast, no free WiFi), though we did get couple of chocolates and fruits at night.
All in all, for a free night, it was a great experience, and I plan on coming back to the hotel in future visits to NYC.

Dear MDDCFLyer:
Thank you for the rave review! The Chase Priority Club credit card definitely has its perks! We are thrilled that you were able to use your certificate at our amazing property. While New York City guestrooms are notoriously “cozy”, our rooms are quite spacious. The floor-to-ceiling windows to provide breathtaking views of Manhattan. I do apologize for any wifi connection issues that you may have experienced, however, I am glad to hear that our team was able to resolve any problems quickly. While breakfast at our onsite restaurant, Ca Va, is not complimentary, it is certainly worth checking out. Our Eggs Benedict are the best in town! We look forward to welcoming you back to the InterContinental New York Times Square.

We stayed here for a third time a few weeks ago. The service was much better than before, when it was the main issue. We had to wait about 30 minutes for our room, but were given free drinks at the bar. We received a double upgrade to a Sky View room (3004). We also received a welcome gift of water and fruit for being platinum Priority Club members. This was a little thing, but they also provided the same number of chocolates at turndown as there were people in the room, which was very nice. The location, is pretty good. We're not huge Times Square fans, but it's central and was close to the theatre were we saw a show. The rooms were what was really lacking. They were clean for the most part, thankfully. But, they were becoming run down. Little things like the soap holder in the shower falling down, the toilet paper holder being messed up, and holes in the sheets were all over. We would definitely stay here, but they need to make sure their rooms are in good shape.

We stayed in NYC late August to early September in 2012. Location was perfect. Was 1 or 2 short blocks walk from time square area. We did have the ambassador upgrade to our membership which I 100% recommend. Many of the inclusions really pay for themselves. Staff were all doing such an amazing job & were always there happy to help. It felt they would run to any requests. I've stayed in some of the best known resorts & hotels so far around the world & this has defiantly had a customer service to remember! The bathrooms we're beautiful & the decor in general was lovely & rooms were always clean. I really could not have enough nice things to say about this place. I would 100% no doubt stay here again if we were returning to NYC. We traveled with 2 young children & we all felt welcome and were all accommodated for during our stay. We also recommend to try the food place located at the corner block called "snack shack" for some of the yummiest burgers we've had. Overall we had a great experience in NYC

Dear DanniiElla:

Thank you for the stellar review and for being an InterContinental Ambassador! I agree that the program is very worthwhile. Guaranteed upgrades, complimentary fresh fruit and mineral water, and a host of additional privileges await Ambassador members. We have a great array of dining choices in our area, and the Shake Shack is one of my favorites as well. We look forward to welcoming you and your family on your next visit.

We stayed for 6 nights at the end of August to celebrate our daughters graduation. We were upgraded on arrival to a Sky view room on the 27th floor. The beds were so comfortable and the duvets and pillows were pure luxury and just what we needed after days of sight seeing.
I am a light sleeper but we had a good nights sleep every night without any distrurbances from other guests or the traffic below.
We didn't eat at the hotel as we thought the food menus were over priced. We had some lovely meals on Restaurant Row just up the road from the hotel. The restaurants here were much better value than in Times Square too. It was very hot while we were there but we had a great time - it really was a memorable trip!
We would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a high floor so there is less chance of noise from the street.

Dear AJKYorkshire:
What a great way to celebrate your daughter’s graduation! We are thrilled to be a part of such a momentous occasion. Thank you so much for your great comments about our location and comfort. I do hope that next time you can experience our onsite restaurant, Ca Va. While the menus are upscale, we offer a “Taste of Ca Va” menu at lunch and dinner that offers a scrumptious selection of our French-inspired cuisine at a reasonable price. We look forward to your return.

This hotel is close to Times Square but not on it which suited us. 8th Avenue isn't brilliant and there are a lot of adult clubs however a short stroll over to 9th brings you to tree lined streets with lots of restaurants.
The hotel itself is very nice. Reception staff were good and gave us an upgrade to a skyview room which was a lovely surprise. The room itself was spacious and comfortable with a great view right across to the river. Bathroom had a large walk in shower, plenty of towels, robes, slippers but just a single bottle of shampoo and conditioner which wasn't enough for two people to share. They probably would have given us more if we had asked.

The only problem we had was the in-room pc didn't work and we struggled to get a wifi signal in our room.

The concierge was helpful and booked restaurants for us. Staff in general were friendly and helpful.

There is a subway entrance next to the hotel but be prepared for quite a walk under ground which in the summer heat is pretty uncomfortable.

The restaurant was nice and we tried breakfast which was good but quite pricey. For a more authentic american breakfast walk over to 9th and try the diner round the corner, it's half the price.

All in all a good hotel which I would happily use again.

Dear Gill63:

Thank you for taking time to post a review! Our location can provide a much-needed oasis from the hustle and bustle of Times Square. I am delighted to hear you enjoyed the guestroom and bath – our rainforest shower heads are developing quite a following. I apologize that you did not receive adequate supplies of bath amenities. You are correct that our housekeeping staff would be more than happy to deliver more upon request. You are welcome to contact me the next time that you are staying with us. We would be pleased to note your profile so that you will receive the amenities without having to ask. I apologize that there were some technical difficulties with the in-room computer and wifi service. Intercontinental, NY times Square is close to Times Square (not on it), close to Broadway theatre district, very close to buses and subway, so it is fine location for the west midtown area of Manhatan. It is a very safe, but a changing neighborhood, so don't be surprised to see a XXX Girls Girls sign also close to the hotel. Rooms are smaller than you would expect, but whatever you need is there. Opt for a room with a view. The Tod English restaurant disappoints, but is adequate and fine for breakfast. Instead, walk down the block to EtcEtc for a nice meal ,often with a good deal priz fixe menu, as well as a la carte. Or get a rez at Esca on 9th ave (5 minute walk from hotel) pricey, but one of the best fish restaurants in NY.For fast food, just outside the hotel is ShakeShack, Danny Meyer's hamburger spot. You can even order wine there, but , it is really just a fancy,-dancy fast food hamburger place, and very good. If there's a long line, don't bother. It's not that good.
Best of all is the lovely lounge area of the Inercontinental, where I sat on comfy couches to have drinks with friends. It felt like I was entertaining in my living room . If you are bringing a car (WHY?), ask about special parking deal. Trust me , you don't need a car in Manhattan. NewYorkers use subways, buses, taxis, and most of all their feet for transportation. I love New York. YOu will, too.

Dear Manhattan10021:

Thank you for your posting! We agree that our location here at the crossroads of Times Square and the historic Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood is impressive. There are new dining establishments opening every week within a short walk. I agree that there are a number of “must-visit” eateries near us, however, I apologize that our onsite restaurant, Ca Va, did not exceed your expectations. I would welcome additional feedback so that we can continue to improve and deliver a stellar experience each and every time.
