I spent 8 nights here recently, this hotel is very very nice, very spacious, the staff is very courteous and friendly. The Hotel itself is very nice, not overly modern, not overly classic, just a very straight forward hotel. The room was very spacious and comfortable with a huge bathroom and awesome shower. Very close to tons of restaurants on 8th and obviously, times square is right around the corner. Overall I was very pleased with this hotel and would stay there gladly for a trip to NYC.

Had a great 3 night stay in May 2011, especially loved the bed and the bathroom! Great location right on the Subway entrance and a few blocks from all major theatres.

Only problems: Our room on the 10th floor was next to a door that would be continuously slammed by staff which woke me up every morning. When we first arrived at our room, there was an empty wine class outside our door and half of the minibar items were missing, so we had to call and make sure we would not be charged for anything.

I would stay here again though.

Extravagant lobby, helpful receptionist, lovely doormen and porters for the luggage. Doorman was especially helpful in hailing a taxi at 6:00 for when I was going to the apple store to buy an iPad 2.
Rooms are great, food at breakfast and tea was gorgeous.

This was my second time to stay at this property. It is very nice, well appointed and a great location.
Be careful of the perfume-infused lobby. We got headaches when walking in and out of there.
Our big problem with the hotel was the room we were given on the 3rd floor. When we arrived (after paying the rack rate - no discount booking tools involved), we were told that was the ONLY room they had left in the hotel. Really? How did he know that without even glancing at his computer screen. We were not able to take naps during the day or sleep for more than an hour at a time without hearing either the subway underneath us, sirens outside, or even people talking on the street below us. It was after all not that far below us...

I think the Intercontinental needs to invest a bit more in soundproofing these lower-level rooms.

I really enjoyed my stay here and will return but next time will demand a better room, especially at this price.

Room Tip: High floors only!

We can't recommend this hotel highly enough. When we booked, we didn't realize that it's only 8 months old. The rooms are comparable in size to other 4-star hotels in the area, but are more modern and nicely appointed. The bathrooms are large, and include beautifully tiled showers. Bed linens are top quality, and our corner room offered a nice view of the river and downtown. What really sets this hotel apart is the service. Virtually everyone, from the check-in desk to the cocktail waitress, is amazingly customer-focused and courteous. Outstanding examples of service include Adrian (the best concierge we have ever worked with...anywhere in the world), Dana in the business center (who helped me ship fragile items for Mother's Day) and Bert and Hector at the front door. The hotel includes a great bar, restaurant and bakery/coffee shop. The location is very convenient, as it's steps from a subway station. The only downside about the location are a few seedy peep shows around the corner.

Beautiful without being pretentious, this hotel is going to be my "go to" hotel for NY.
The midtown location is close to Times Square, but sufficiently removed to avoid the craziness. I got a room in a high floor with fantastic vies, and low and behold, no street noise!
The hotel is new, bathrooms are modern, rooms are decorated in soothing tones, bed was heavenly.
I also had breakfast and dinner at the hotel and was very pleased with the quality of food.
The only down side, it took a long time for room service to deliver dinner. Everything else was just perfect.
Will be going again!

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor

arrived at hotel from jfk, hotel very busy (fully booked), but dealt with very quickly and in room in no time. the suite was fantastic with great views. The staff were very friendly, the concierge service was 1st class and very helpful. One day we had returned back to hotel late and decided to dine in the hotel restaurant, which was 'VERY GOOD' and can thoroughly recommend. Only negative of the stay was a disagreement about the mini bar which was corrected after a bit of negotiation.
