“Go to the Rooftop Bar”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 26, 2013

It's a Hilton - so it's consistent with the brand - clean, comfortable, conveniently located. The service here is fantastic. One thing that stands out is the restaurant offerings - the rooftop bar is fun and the view is beautiful! "Rare" is perfect for a night at the bar or a sit-down dinner. Great food, great service. Only downside is the rooms don't have much soundproofing to the outside, so the street noise is worse than other NYC hotels I've stayed in.

Room Tip: High floor, away from 26th street.

Just checked out of our 4 night stay at the Hilton Fashion District.
Great little hotel, all the staff were very friendly and a credit to New York and the hotel.
We found Caroline at the front desk particularly helpful and friendly.
The hotel room is small but from what I gather all hotel rooms in NYC are.
We did a lot of walking and the hotel is about 15 blocks from Time Square. It took us an easy 25 minute walk to and from there many times.
The Hotel is still very much in the heart of the city with lots of 24hour cafes and stalls nearby.
The best thing about the hotel is its location. Quiet enough at night to afford a good night sleep without listening to garbage trucks, police cars and car horns all night. Room was clean and comfy. Several local subway stations.
Great value.

Maintenance apparently trumped guest comfort and quiet. Also, despite talking to 4 employees, they failed to understand that I needed distilled water rather than fancy drinking water for a medical device. Pretty shabby for close to $500 a night.

We stayed there for 3 nights. The hotel is more central when you liked to be more south. Everything looks modern and clean. Our room was quite big with a nice view. The room was also clean and modern. I personally do not like that the light goes on when somebody goes in the bathroom especially at night. The view from the rooftop bar was incredible. The service at the restaurant for Hilton and honors members is upgradable. On one day nobody took notice of us and luckily we got coffee and helped us with the very nice buffet. There was also a problem with the coupons and nobody excused about it.

I believe that this hotel has recently been renovated - and therefore is offered at a competitive rate. Which is fortunate, as the property is located in a good area that puts you in easy reach of Chelsea and Meatpacking.

The rooms are a decent size and comfortable. I had a room on the 22nd floor, which offered me a great view of the Empire State Building.

But thats where it ends really. There's nothing special about this place, so if you are on a budget, then you pay for what you get.

In fact you pay through the nose for WIFI - $14 per day. This can be bypassed if you log in to the free service in the lobby, then take your devices up to your room. I see no reason why the Hilton feels the need to charge for what is now a basic requirement for business travellers.

The major downside is the "rooftop" bar, which is essentially a tacky soulless cougar den serving poor cocktails in plastic glasses. Not even the view of the city could save this place. Drink anywhere but here.

Room Tip: The 22nd floor rooms offer a great view, but beware the pounding loud music from the trash bar upsta...

The Hilton Fashion District is reliably good. It's a fantastic deal for NYC. Most cheaper hotels are in the Financial District, but the Hilton is right next to Chelsea and close to the subway for easy access anywhere in Manhattan. The burger place downstairs is great. The staff are friendly and the rooms are comfy. I've stayed at this hotel often and the only problem I've had in the past is with valet service. It's not even the hotel staff's fault; it's the garage they subcontract out to. Give yourself plenty of time for your car if you use the valet service. Otherwise, this place is a gem.
