The Immigration Museum was very humbling. It has been lovingly restored but the lines to get on the ferry and the lines to get back on the ferry can take several hours. The views of Manhatten are also breathtaking.

The boat ride by the statue of liberty was worth it alone. It allows you to see NYC skyline from a wonderful perspective. However, the museum itself could be little better. It is a wonderful history lesson. As you walk through the complex you get to hear stories from people who came through there. Lots of fun primary source letters. It could be much improved if they had actual artifacts from 1800s (or at least more of them).
If you have a child that is studying US history - it is a great accompaniment to their coursework.

We were the first ones there. It was awesome. There is a lot to see. They have done a very nice job preserving the history. You can also go into the back and research your own history.

The building is magnificent! Being in the large hall lets you imagine what my grandfathers felt when they first arrived. You were given a headset to listen at your own pace. There is a history area that you can search for your family and get a certificate. Anyone who has had a relative come through Ellis Island should not miss this for the world. Displays were great. A park ranger was demonstrating a puzzle that was given to folks to see if they could think and solve it without getting angry. Very fun!
