I wanted to like this hotel-the location is great, the rooms are big by NY standards. But I arrived very early with 2 kids, left my bags, and was told I'd be called when a room was ready. No call. Finally we came back to the hotel around 6:30 pm and they put us in a room on the 3rd floor, directly above the band in the club Toshi's, downstairs. When you sit on the bed you can feel the pulse of the music below. Said they didn't have any other rooms, but that the music would stop at 2:30 am. Receptionist asked if we were going out? I looked at my kids and then looked back at her. All she said was "there's nothing I can do." It's REALLY not fair to put little kids in this room.
Also, the TV didn't work (although someone came to fix it), I had to climb on the toilet to fix the drapes so that kids weren't using the toilet with all of Broadway watching, there's free wifi but it is truly impossible to get a connection, and the bathtub drain won't hold water. The windows are lovely, looking out onto Broadway, that's one positive and it's pretty clean. But the noise level is truly outrageous. They have no business renting this room as a place for a people to sleep (and they know it).

Flatiron is a great option for a nice affordable hotel in NTC, booked using www.hforhotels.com and got a great deal.
This hotel has a very nice bar in the first floor with very nice live music at nights, also next door theres a nice bar, BUT, if you stay in a floor lower than fifth, you will be hearing a LOT of noises; music from the lobby (yes its LOUD) drunken people from bar next door and cars.

Overall the hotel is great, the location is safe, close to subway (2 blocks away) and with a short nice walk you can get anywhere fast

We stayed at the Flatiron for 4 nights in August. If you want a hotel where you can actually sleep, this is not the place for you. The live-music in the lounge feels more like a night-club 6 nights a week. In fact, the music is so loud that you can here it one block away when walking on Broadway! We had read in other reviews that you could not hear the noise above the 4th floor, so after making our reservation we called and asked for a room above the 4th floor. We had a room on the 6th floor, right above the lounge and with a view on Broadway. Well, the noise does go above the 4th floor. In fact, it was so loud that it felt it was right undeneath us. On the first night, we asked for another room, but there were none available and we were told we could probably have one the next day. On the next morning, the front desk called our room to offer us one on the 9th floor. Since we wanted to see the room, we waited for it to be available. While in the elevator, we met a guest that was on the 8th floor facing 26th Street, and she too could here the music. We then decided to stay in our room and buy ear plugs, which helped a little.

The Windows are old and let in all the noise from the street, especiallly the subway.

This hotel is said to be 4 stars but doesn't feel like it. The rooms are nicely decorated and the bed is comfortable but one expects more from a 4 stars hotel. There a a few out of the ordinary things like a tv in the mirror in the bathroom but maybe money should have been put on better Windows and noise diminishing walls.

The staff however was very professionnal and friendly. And the location is great to explore NYC. We could walk almost everywhere we wanted to go.

We will not return to this hotel and will not recommend it.

The hotel was in a perfect location and the rooms just great .The noise from the live music in the lobby was just overwhelmingly loud .So loud in fact , that it was difficult to check in on friday at 6 pm as I couldn't hear the receptionist yikes! the music lasted each night until closing time . I was thankful that our room was on the 6th floor and that I had brought my ear plugs .Other than that it was a great small hotel with nicely done rooms , very clean and a convenient location

We stayed here in August of 2013. The hotel was in the best location! We were close to everything! The staff was so accommodating and just really nice. Each day they asked if we needed anything! The rooms were clean and had some cool amenities (TV in the mirror, remote controlled curtains, and fun showers). Loved the hotel. Seriously cannot say it enough.

Room Tip: Higher floors won't hear the live music in the bar.
