I was lucky enough to come across a deal from Bookit.com for <$300/night at this perfectly located (B'way and 26th) gem.
Friendliest front desk staff ever. Then check out the gorgeous two story aquarium in the center of the lobby, and the retro staircase going up to the low ceilinged mezzanine.
The room was bigger than most boutique hotels. The towels were larger. The bathrobe and slippers were cozier. Two bottles of normal spring water instead of the usual fancy ripoff bottled water that gets added to your bill.
The shower was magnificent, plenty of jets and rip roaringly hot water right away.
Comfy bed. The best lighting I've ever had for reading in a hotel.
So clean that I think I might have been the first person to stay in the room! Filled with electronic gizmos to make your stay more interesting. Interesting in that I couldn't even figure out how to get into the room - the door doesn't have a slidey thing for your room card, instead you just touch it to the top of the latch (they should have told me!).

Only drawbacks: no restaurant or bar, but they are coming. Also, the check in was late, 4 PM.

Great experience at the Flatiron!

The hotel has been newly refurnished, and the rooms are quite comfortable. Very central location in the heart of the city. The staff is friendly and available 24 hours a day. Showers have lots of nozzles that spray you from all angles at once. Definitely a great value for NYC and I would certainly come back again.

We come to NY once or twice a year to see shows. We usually try to stay a bit closer to the theater area when visiting, but saw the Flatiron prices and decided to give it a try. Very pleasantly surprised at how convenient it was to everthing. Only two blocks to the 28th St. subway which we could take to the theaters or downtown. Although there is no restaurant in the hotel, it is located very close to a lot of good places. There is a CVS and Duane Reader within a block, so we were able to buy snacks for the room. The staff was very friendly, the fish tank is spectacular, and Mr. Toshi was there every evening greeting people. We will definitely put this on our "repeat" lists of places to stay!

This is a newly opened hotel and when we visited the resturant was not yet open. This is not a problem really as there are plenty of places to eat nearby. The staff was very friendly and we alwas had a good feeling comming back to the hotell after a day out. The twin double bed rooms were large enough for us with two adults ald two kids to fit w/o any problems. A fun thing was the technology in the rooms including integrated TV in the bathroom mirror! Not very necessary, but fun :-)
