“1 Famous Fat Dave, 4 hours, LOTS of food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 4, 2013

Spending 4h in a car with a stranger COULD be awkward, but not with Dave – he is easy company and conversation was never less than absorbing.
We got off to a great start, with an unexpected and rare (for winter) appearance by the Checker. Such a beauty, and we weren’t the only ones who thought so – passers-by would constantly stop to look and take pictures. Disconcerting at first, yet understandable and quite good fun!
As for the food, we placed ourselves in Dave’s capable hands. By continuously gaging our preferences and appetites throughout the tour, he ensured a well-rounded experience. Everything was excellent, from the beautiful Dominican drink Morir Soñando‎ (orange juice, condensed milk, vanilla and ice – it really was as good as it sounds) in Williamsburg, to the moistest and most gorgeous pastrami washed down with Cel-ray Soda at David’s Brisket House in Bed-Stuy. To the flavorsome, spicy doubles and aloo pie at Trini Gul. To the improbable Gargiullo burger (burger, hot beef, onions, cheese, the whole lot dipped in beef broth) at Brennan and Carr in Homecrest. To the chewiest think pizza at New Park Pizza in Queens. I could go on – you get the idea.
We ended the day full and happy and with a greater understanding of New York than any guidebook could give you. Thoroughly recommended, and if/when we visit New York again, we will definitely repeat it.

“Should have done this before!”

Go! Eat! Explore!
We went today and it was great. It is such a nice way to explore New York City. Driving through parts of New York that you would never go to on your own. Away from Manhattan and all the touristy things. Naturally you go and see the main attractions but this is something else. Seeing the genuine people, eating the genuine food while being entertained by Dave, telling you numerous facts and stories of this amazing city and all of its history. Our children were also very enthousiastic. Dave won't force anything, if you want to skip a place, skip it. If you want half a portion, no problem. So book this one and see a whole other side of the Big Apple. There is more than Manhattan!!

“A Must-Do in New York for Tourists and Locals!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 22, 2013

Dave's tour was absolutely amazing! We live in Manhattan and Dave took us deep into Brooklyn (Coney Island, Sheepshead Bay, Sunset Park) to explore parts of the city we'd never experienced before. Not only were all of the food tastings absolutely delicious, but Dave's knowledge of food, food history and New York history was incredibly entertaining. I learned so much about this city that I have lived in for years and saw neighborhoods I would never venture to on my own. Dave has a great rapport with many of the businesses we visited, which allowed us to get to know some of the families who have been running these local restaurants for generations. The tour is also great for folks who want to explore parts of the city, but don't want to walk much. The cab makes it easy for you to just hop out at a restaurant and Dave picks you right back up. My husband and I fully plan to take another tour with Dave - I can't wait to learn more about this amazing city and try more of Dave's food recommendations.

“Best thing we did in NYC!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 15, 2013

Dave doesn't just know food. There was no other way we could have learned as much about the food, culture and geography of NYC in just a few hours. It was my first trip to New York but it won't be my last and I'll definitely take another tour with Dave!

“The best eating tour i've been on.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 15, 2013

I was a bit hesitant at first, but after doing all my homework i decided to contact Dave and see if he had something available.

It was organised real short notice, but he already had a party of 2 booked so we could just join them.

This tour is about more than just food. This is a real social happening. We've all had those awkward moments on a tour bus, not really sure who to talk to.
Well don't worry about that, if there's one thing that Dave's good in is getting the conversation started. Within a matter of minutes you're all just one happy family on a day out.

And the best part of it, the eating starts right away.
As soon as you get into the van there's food, and you don't have to be hungry a single moment from than on.

Dave took us all across Brooklyn on our tour. We got the see NYC from a side that we've never seen it betore. And the food is just amazing.

From an awesome Ham & Potato hero to the best Pastrami i've ever had ( with the nicest Deli owner i've met at Jay and Lloyd's ).
From dumplings from a storefront even locals would walk past to a Gargulo burger just drenched in gravy.
And to finish it off the best donut's i've had in my life.

If we're going to NYC again, i'm definitely going to book at Dave again to see the other buroughs.

Thank you for an unforgettable and delicious day.
Until next time.

Regards,

Jessica & Jan Kees from Holland
