“Snake Oil Sales Staff”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 29, 2014

Approaching the Statue of Liberty booth in Battery Park, we were approached by numerous sales staff claiming they were the only option to view the Statue if we didn't have previous reservations. We now know that wasn't true. We ended up walking a mile and a half to Pier 16, then had to wait nearly two hours for our reservation. I wouldn't recommend the open upper deck on 30 degree windy days, but it was our only option. Once aboard, the tour guide was excellent and did a great job making history fun. We were never provided the hop on, hop off service we paid for. Stick to the Statue of Liberty tour for value and comfort.

“NYC Christmas Lights bus tour - DEC13”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 31, 2013

We took the tour during a weekend vacation to NYC, primarily to see the Christmas Lights. The streets of NYC, particularly around Rockefeller Center, were packed and difficult to navigate, let alone get close to some of the specific sights we wanted to see. The bus tour allowed us to see a lot of NYC that we could not see alone, and from a vantage point on the second deck of the bus that was incomparable to driving your own car. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions about the city. You can’t see all of NYC in a short 2 hour bus ride, but this was an enjoyable experience that my family liked, probably the best part of our trip from my wife’s perspective. You can bring backpacks and there were no restrictions on bringing your own food or beverages.

The aspects of the tour that we did not like were: 1: no seat reservations as it was first come first board, 2: you could not reserve a specific time for boarding, 3: you will be hounded to give tips at the end of the tour (to the guide and the bus driver), and 4: you are not able to get off the bus at any point to walk around any of the sights. We booked the tour through “All New York Tours” and the actual company conducting the tour was “Gray Line New York”. The agent at “All New York Tours” told me that this was a tour where you could get off the bus at three different locations during the 2.5 hour tour. This was not the case as we were not allowed off the bus at any time. We boarded the bus across the street from the Gray Line office at 777 8th Avenue. The office had public bathrooms and I highly suggest that you have all members of your party use it prior to boarding the bus.

“NYC Architectural Walking Tour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 19, 2013

In October, 2013 my wife and I took a fabulous educational and enlightening tour of the buildings along 42nd St. The guide was a practicing architect, Michelle, who was informative, pleasant and outgoing. We could not have asked for a more interesting tour and tour guide especially when there was only 1 other couple with us. The cost is a bit pricey but well worth the 3 hours. Rather than just gawking at buildings, we came away with a better understanding of the history, construction and tidbits of information not readily available in tour books. It was our favorite tour by far. Not to be missed!

“New York Harbor Hop-on Hop-off Cruise & 9/11 Memorial Ticket”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 15, 2013

We had just one day to tour downtown Manhattan and this made that possible. We got on at Pier 84 and it took us out on the Hudson River to see the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building and the Island of Tears. We got off at Battery Park and enjoyed walking around there before walking to the 9/11 Memorial where the tour company had provided us with our pass and already made our reservation so we avoided line-ups. After exploring lower Manhattan we took the water taxi for a view of Brooklyn Bridge and just enjoyed the views of Manhattan. The only disappointment was that there was supposed to be a free bus that would drop us off in Time Square but we were told the bus was not available since it was under repair. The free bus was not really part of the tour and was really like a bonus for anyone who takes a tour with them so it was no big deal...it was just a short walk anyway!

“We got bait and switched, absolutely terrible.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2013

Our party of seven in New York City were offered free tours by the bus driver. As soon as the bus started moving, we were forced to pay $150 for the WORST tour we have ever had. The driver skipped FIVE RED LIGHTS, it was terrifying. Our tour guide was incredibly high on marijuana and kept flirting with women on the bus OVER THE MICROPHONE. He did not point out any famous sights, and the stoned tour guide even demanded we stop the bus so he could get an ice cream... Which we did... For TWENTY MINUTES. That was the only stop the bus made... No stops for sights, and no information about anything in New York City. DO NOT TAKE THIS COMPANY'S TOURS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE.
