If your kids are Nintendo fans, you have to take them to this store. It is in a great location by the Today show. It has interactive games for the kids to play everywhere. The merchandise is reasonably priced. I waited for Today Show people to walk out while the kids played.

“Overcrowded this time.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 4, 2013

Just 2 minutes walk from the Plaza, a visit to Nintendo World is a MUST for any familiy visiting the Rockefeller Centre.

The store is clean, tidy, bright and air-conditioned! A large interactive TV screen greets you as you enter. Usually, you are able to see Mario and talk directly to him via this technological wonder, but sadly it was not working when we visited, even though information on the website stated it would be. We've seen this before on a previous visit, and I would highly recommend that you visit when it's active (details on website) - we were just unfortunate this time.

On the ground floor (street level) there is limited seating for adults seeking some shopping respite. This floor has a large circular seating formation where youngsters (and some not so young) can play preloaded games on DS consoles. There is Nintendo merchandise available on this floor, mainly applicable to Pokemon. Also, there is a good range of Nintendo DS/Wii games available to purchase. However, if you are visiting from outside the US, please check that the game will be compatible with your console at home before buying.

The upper floor (accessed by elevator, or stairs for those with any energy left!) has no seating. It hosts Wii consoles, again preloaded, for shoppers amusement. There is also a large interesting display of historic Nintendo memorabelia. This upper floor is dedicated to all things Super Mario Bros. The merchandise is of surprisingly good quality and covers a wide range of goods from clothing to chess sets and backpacks to bedding. Please note though - the bedding sizes are american sizes - I previously bought a single bed set (duvet cover, pillow case, fitted sheet and flat sheet, but when home to the UK I discovered that the fitted sheet was too big and the flat sheet too narrow). I particularly like the t-shirts (childrens and adults sizes) as, not only do they have a Super Mario Brothers image on, but some also have 'Nintendo World New York' printed on them too (great light weight gifts to bring home for Nintendo fans).

The checkout process is speedy and organised - the carrier bags are a lovely gift in themselves. As is normal for the US though, the price on the ticket is WITHOUT tax, so don't send your child to pay with only the correct money for the price tag! Also, keep your receipt handy.....on exit, security guards at the door regularly ask to compare your receipt with the contents of your bag.

Now, my only criticism this time was the fact that the store was very overcrowded - to the point that it was difficult to move around on the upper floor. This was due to what appearded to be a 'gamesfest'. There was a large crowd of people queuing to play DS consoles against Nintendo world staff(?)/experts. The queuing was anything but orderly, and the associated noise level was deafening. I don't remember seeing reference to this event on the website otherwise I'd have avoided it. My advise would be to check before your visit though.

Have a nice day!

“Great environment”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 27, 2013 via mobile

The place is great, several video games running and you can soend there a lot of time without someone bothering you. If you want to buy Nintendo related stuff (clothing, posters, toys), then you are in the right place. What i missed was a free wi-fi. Maybe next time...

“A must for any Nintendo fan in NYC”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 25, 2013

This is truly a must for any fan of Nintendo, it's systems, or it's proprietary characters and games. The first floor is dedicated to the 3DS and Pokémon, and the second floor is for clothes, a historical retrospective of the Nintendo video game machines and the WiiU. It is also a great place to pick up a lot of streetpass tags for your 3DS. The employees are extremely friendly and are willing to talk to you about anything Nintendo related for as long as you want. Again, any Nintendo-file will love this store. It's located right in Rockefeller Plaza, so it's very easy to find

This is a great site for Nintendo lovers. The clothing is cool and they have lots of Pokemom stuff if you are a fan.
