It is hard to rate DeFonte's against restaurants as it is simply a hero and fast food spot (although expensive for the genre). When the Brooklyn waterfront legend opened a branch in Manhattan we were fortunate enough for it to be located across the street from our Co-Op ar; apartment. The real heros are made with finest ingrediants and breads. I had the chicken parmigiana hero on Friday and as the jumbo sandwich is cut in half, had half for lunch and half for dinner. Amazing meatball parmigiana and other treats make DeFonte's in a class by itself in the sandwich shop category. Sure it's more expensive than Subway and others but it sure is worth it.
