“Amazing Gastropub food!”
Reviewed December 2, 2012

I came here 2 meals in a row- for dinner and lunch, something i've never ever done in restaurant-rich NYC. That's how good the food (for a gastropub), ambience and service was.

Our server was very friendly and helpful- never experienced that before in NYC!
Not pretentious or snobbish at all.

Scotch Egg: perfectly done; soft boiled egg wrapped in a layer of well-seasoned sausage and deep fried to perfection. Yolk oozed out silkily when we sliced into the dreamy concoction. Mmmm

Vinegared Poussin with apple chutney: as described by our fabulous server- juicy, flavorful and tender

Lamb Burger with Thrice-cooked Fries: Absolutely one of the best burgers I've ever had. Juicy (So juicy), flavorful and the buns were toasted and seasoned as well. After our first bite, we looked at each other and just sank back into our seats in satisfaction. it was That amazing.

Brussel Sprouts with apple chutney: delicious

Coffee Toffee Tart: wow. perfection

We were seated at the bar overlooking the sidewalk, which was perfect.
Service was great; the bartender was helpful and friendly and again, none of that snobbish terrible attitude described by other Yelpers (maybe we were just that lucky)

We shared the lamb burger and it was just as good. The scotch egg looks even more gorgeous in the daylight. We also had the roasted beets (tasty) and Onion Marrow soup (very rich; we couldn't manage more than a few mouthfuls. my friend had to take it home for dinner)

I highly recommend the Breslin for lunch or dinner

“Fantastic place if the service was better”
Reviewed November 30, 2012

The food was nice and wasn't too expensive but ordered drinks and waited until after we got our meals before it was delivered... Also after asking twice where they were. That wasn't too bad though except the next round of drinks we ordered also came after a long time and one didn't come at all, we ended up cancelling that one as we were all finished our drinks already and it still wasn't there after asking twice again! The atmosphere is great and food was great so it was a real pity about the service.

“Great brekkie”
Reviewed November 27, 2012

Tasty gourmet breakfast, prompt service, nice ambience and central location. My boyfriend and I had breakfast and coffees after our 4 night stay at the Ace Hotel. We were in quite early (8ish) so no issues getting a table and had a nice breakfast before heading to the airport.

“All about the ambiance”
Reviewed November 9, 2012

The restaurant was close to our hotel on a cold night but we had no idea how limited the menu would be or how expensive. There was nothing jumping out and some items were, to our taste, very quirky. While we were assured (rather cheekily!) the dishes were traditional English fare we were limited to having to go for the steak, which is designed to be shared between two. We were subsequently informed that the prices started at 120 dollars and a steak valued at 230 dollars was recommended, with side orders extra. At 'medium well' it would take some time. So for the next 45 minutes we were left to make conversation while drinking our short 16 dollar glasses of wine and eating some nuts presented onto the table in a little stapled plastic bag. Certainly there is a lively electric atmosphere with exciting decor and interesting people all around, but we have eaten in restaurants run by world-famous Michelin star English chefs on more than a couple of occasions. This was unfortunately in every aspect dissatisfying and indeed we left feeling hungry.

“Slow service but reasonably good food”
Reviewed November 3, 2012 via mobile

Obviously one of the most popular places in New York - very busy at lunchtime - but the much raved about scotch eggs and lamb burgers were very good but not as sensational as expected - I think there are better in London and for a lot less money - I think the experience would have been better if they weren't so ridiculously busy. I also think they make sure they look after their regulars over visitors.
