“Delicious food with regrettable service”
Reviewed October 15, 2012

Went with another couple on a Saturday night and everything started off very well. We placed our order and the apps came out soon after. That's when the trouble began. First, we got an item that we didn't order. Alright we thought, we'll just send it back and wait for our item to arrive. We were a bit concerned when they cleared out our plates and brought me my main course. Unfortunately, I had ordered a soup and no one else's main was brought out so that (the second issue of the night). By then, another waitress had taken over and she definitely seemed more aware and concerned about service than our original one that we never saw after the order was placed. After some additional swaps, things went well until our check arrived. There were a number of mistakes here, including a doubling of my main (maybe they thought I had it the first time they brought it out?). All in, the food was great but given the prices and the service, I can easily do better around here.

“Nice outdoor seating”
Reviewed October 11, 2012 via mobile

It was a humid afternoon and we stopped for lunch outdoors and enjoyed our pizza and pasta . The menu is limited but all the dishes we had were very tasty . The pizzas are huge, thin crust. They even have a good children's menu too. Reasonably priced and they dont automatically add the gratuity either

“Excellent evening”
Reviewed July 19, 2012

I was there for a wedding rehearsal dinner. The staff was very attentive, the food quite tasty (I had an excellent, spicy pasta), and the dessert was not heavy, making a nice end to the meal.

“nice neighborhood spot”
Reviewed July 9, 2012

We go to Cinque frequently, and enjoy it immensely. The menu is interestingly limited. THe name means "Five" in Italian, so they play it up with 5 selections -- 5 appetizers, 5 pastas, etc. Choices are nice and usually fresh and lovely.

We always always get the pizza with pear, gorgonzola and truffle oil. It is a thin, thin crust, almost cracker-like, with a thin layer of the gorgonzola and paper-thin slices of pear. The truffle oil works suprisingly well with this lovely and delicate dish.

Other dishes are fine - we have enjoyed the eggplant parmesan and the various pastas. Carpaccio was a bit disappointing, as it had a sort of musty flavor, and the Cesar salad was a bit too drenched in dressing.

Still, the decor is pretty - a sports bar in front, and exposed brick warehouse in the back, with a fireplace in the winter. Service could be more attentive, but young and pleasant servers try.

“Five things to love”
Reviewed April 24, 2012

Trattoria Cinque is a lovely little restaurant in the TriBeca area that serves 5 appetizers, 5 main dishes and 5 desserts; hence its name. There are many more wines however! The food is quite good, prices reasonable and service excellent. Make sure to try one of their specialty pizzas. We had the speck and funghi which was great. If the weather is nice, sit outside. Open for lunch and dinner, it is a treat.
