This hotel was booked as a "Secret Sale" through Quikbook. When the hotel name was revealed, I was a little concerned because of the comments about the porn shops and parole office. However, upon arriving, we felt very safe. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The room was very clean. The bed and pillows were wonderfully comfortable. We fell in love with the beautiful and roomy shower. The only downfall is that there was no ice bucket in the room. One added bonus to the great location is that you can get a $10 bus ride from JKF or LaGuardia that lets you off across the street from the hotel at the Port Authority Bus Terminal. You can also catch the same bus for a return trip to the airport for $12 (or $10 if return ticket had been purchased at the airport). Make sure that you allow enough time for the bus ride because it will make one stop at Grand Central Station. I will definitely stay at the Distrikt on my next trip to New York!

With 5 rooms by stores the Distrikt hotel is all in verticality.
So prefered the higher stores and the rooms 1, 2, 3 and 5. Avoid the #4 which is the smaller.
The rooms pictures on their web site are very representative. So, not bad surprise !
People at de desk is very competent and advise you very well for the place to go and the restaurant.

Only one bad but small relflexion : the internet free network signal is very low. But you have an access to 3 Mac at the reception.

PS : Time square is 5mn by feet ! So what else ?

My wife and I stayed in this hotel after reviewing 30 other hotels on Tripadvisor and we were not disappointed. I had called ahead to ask for a room on a higher floor to ensure that we would have a good view and not be bothered by noise. Although you had other building beside you, we had a good view of Empire State building and noise was absolutely not a problem. The room was a decent size for this NYC boutique hotel. The king size bed was heaven and the shower was actually quite large, with lots of counter space around the sink. The hotel is very safe as you require your room FOB to get to one's floor and there is a in-room safe that was a good size as t could fit my laptop. The staff who cleaned up our rooms were wonderful people - and they prepared our rooms for bedtime with chocolates and weather reports for the next day!

The location of the hotel was great. We were a block away from the port Authority (bus and subway station) and a 5 minute walk to Times Square. It's also adjacent to 9th st (Hell's Kitchen district) where you will find lovely restaurants and bistros to eat in.

The staff were friendly and very helpful and always said hello and had a smile.

Four night stay, booked well in advance, based on reviews on Tripadvisor.

My experience of the Distrikt lived up to the high expectations set by Tripadvisor reviews. This is a modern, tasteful and well run establishment, very well situated one block from Times Square. I particularly appreciated the friendliness, helpfulness and courtesy of the staff.

Although there are no tea making facilities in bedrooms, good quality coffee (in the mornings) and iced tea (in the afternoons) is freely available in the lobby, and I quickly got used to taking supplies back to my room.

My only quibble with the hotel (and this applies to other hotels) was the practice of housekeeping entering the room late each afternoon to close the curtains. This resulted on two occasions my having to enter a pitch black room at around 6pm, to reopen the curtains to let in the remaining three hours of daylight (and to enjoy the view). Why do hotels do this?

I recommend the Distrikt highly. I would not hesitate to stay there again if ever I return to New York.

We stayed at the Distrikt during our first trip to New York City. The Distrikt is in an excellent location in the heart of Manhattan, mere steps from the subway and bus terminal. Yet amid the hustle bustle of Midtown and nearby Times Square, the Distrikt was still a quiet, relaxing respite after a long day of exploring the city. The first thing I noticed about the hotel was its modern, contemporary design. The “Distrikt” theme of the hotel is creative and elegantly executed throughout the hotel. The lobby is airy and welcoming, and it felt nice to arrive “home” after a day of sightseeing, collapse in the chair, and have some complimentary iced tea. Then we took advantage of the computer stations in the lobby to research what to do next in the city. Getting to our room, we noticed the added security of needing a key card to use the elevator. Our 30th Floor room was stylish, quiet, and well-appointed, complete with a spectacular view of the Hudson River and the Empire State Building. We also appreciated the little added touches, such as chocolates, weather forecast cards, and the daily New York Times. Most importantly, the front desk staff members are all very friendly and helpful, which adds to the intimate feel of the Distrikt. I was very happy with this hotel and have no complaints about it. I am so happy that I won’t have to worry about researching hotels next time I go to NYC. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting New York City.

I arrived athe the hotel and was greated by smiles and iced tea, perfect on a hot summer day. I immediately noticed that New York City was the them of the Distrikt, with a beautiful carving of the city streets and skyline into the wood wall behind the desk. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Frank, the bell man, and Linda in their Collage Bistro, went out of their way to accomodate us. Linda fulfilled our special order requests with pleasure and was happy to let us sample a wine before ordering. Her personality fit right in, bubbly and happy. The food was delicious and fresh. Frank was also one of the best concierge people we met in the city, giving us the fastest ways to get from point A to point B, great restaurant recommendations and sigtseeing must dos. For great Thai food, go to Room Service on 9th Ave and 38th ST. Awesome food and atmosphere at a great price. Also, Fort Tryon and the Cloisters are a great day trip.
The rooms are spacious, I stayed with a friend and there was plenty of room for both of us. The hotel is new so the rooms were impecably clean. I must say, I have slept in many hotel beds, and in some of the finest hotels in the country, but the bed, pillows and linens at the Distrikt were by far the most comfortable ever! The rooms are specially designed to be sound proof so there was no noise from the city streets that never sleep.
The hotel is very conveniently located. The subway and bus terminal are at the corner. In addition to the hotel restaurant which has excellent food, there are many greatrestaurants of all types located right around the corner on 9th Ave.
Hats off to the Distrikt, their staff for making our stay memorable and comfortable. I highly recommend the Distrikt
