“Great hotel within ten minute walk of Times Square”
Reviewed July 8, 2010

Fabric- New hotel with attractive decor and King size bedroom a good size. Excellent bathroom. Efficient AC. and good soundproofing. Very comfortable bed and bedding.
Service- Front of house staff very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. Room service excellent - requests for ice met within a couple of minutes. Nice little touches included a daily card with tomorrows weather forecast and a couple of different chocolates in room each day. Also room refreshed if you return during day before going out again.
Hotel was a major factor in making our first visit to NY a great experience.

There a few good positives - it's a reasonably priced hotel in a fairly central Midtown location (but not really in the best area). It's spotlessly clean, the majority of hotel staff are delightful and the free internet access in the lobby is a bonus.

However we had a number of problems with our booking. I booked a room with two queen beds on an upper floor with a city view. The holiday was a long planned trip to take my Mum to see New York and it was very important to us that we shared a room. I booked this hotel for a few nights at the end of our trip to end the holiday on a bit of a high so it was very disappointing to find on arrival that we were given two separate rooms on the third floor with a view of the back of the hotel. We were told that it was very busy but we booked the room well in advance so they had plenty of time to contact me to let me know that our requirements could not be met so I could have had the opportunity to book something else or agree to a revised booking. My room was also impossibly dark - I could barely see to find anything.

On checkout they also charged my credit card the correct amount which I authorised but then a separate amount of $600 without my knowledge. This was refunded but it meant that I couldn't use my credit card for the rest of the weekend and, at the time, I had no idea why - it was only when I saw my statement that I realised what had happened.

This could be a great hotel but I felt that we paid a lot more here than our previous hotel which gave us the room we wanted, was in a better location and had many other free services included.

I stayed at the Distrikt hotel June 21st-27th and it was such a great new modern hotel. We booked a superior king room through hotels.com and got a really good deal. The only down side of this, is that we got a room on the 6th floor with no real view but considering that we got the room for such a good rate and that all the sightseeing that we did in NY it didn't really matter. The room was lovely, modern and spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The internest is great but do remember to log out of sites like Facebook and don't just close the page as it will still be there as I discovered when you next log in...oops! The location of the hotel was ideal, not far at all from Times Square, Bryant park and everywhere really. I'd also say don't worry about the adult video stores and parole office, I passed there on my own a few times and was never hassled by anyone. I couldn't comment on the breakfast or restaurant as we didn't eat in the hotel but one great place I could recommend for breakfast is the Teleon cafe, it's just straight down the road on the right hand side from the hotel, a really good choice of different things for breakfast each morning. Lastly I'd like to just say all the staff were great, I can't remember specific names but I'd like to mention Frank on concierge and Ashley on the Bar were especially great and worked so hard! The hotel also made our stay extra special, my boyfriend and I got engaged while we were in NY and the hotel organised a bottle of Champagne to be brought up to our room. It's things like this that make all the difference. Don't hesitate to book this hotel, you wont be disappointed! We'll be back someday, we just have a wedding to save for now!

Stayed at the Distrik with my wife and 2yr old son for 6nights in mid-june and it was a most rewarding experience! There are loads of things to love about this chic hoteI.I think i love the warmness of the staff most. They are very approchable and always with a smile (even when my boy was running riot over their lobby!) Lest i forget, thanks guys for going the extra for my wife's birthday, it was well appreciated.

The bedroom was very comfortable and relaxing and just the place to unwind. The walk in shower is just great and is the highlight of the bathroom. The turn-down service works a treat with chocolates left for you nightly. Very quiet as well no disturbance at all.

The location is quite handy. A block away from the port Authority station. For my wife, oulet shopping was only a bus away. It's also adjacent to 9th st with myriads of lovely resturants and bistros to eat in. We found a gem in Giogio's grill- tasty and inexpensive. It's also very close to the bubbling Times square. It's ideally situated to explore the city.

We loved our 1st visit to the Big Apple and a good chunk of that was due to the great choice hotel we booked. We had high expectations and we were not disappointed.
Thanks Distrikt, and we'll sure be back!

Wonderful hotel right behind Port Authority with plenty of shopping nearby. My husband can be very picky and he loved this hotel. Everything is new and it still has that new carpet smell. We were on the 14 floor and did not have much of a view but for the price it well worth it. I highly recommend the Distrikt!.

I picked this hotel because it popped up when I did a search for a quiet hotel in Manhattan. And it was very quiet--solid windows, few rooms per floor, respectful customers. It was also exceptionally comfortable--great beds & linens, robe, flat-screen TV. Tea and coffee were available in the small lobby. The staff were friendly and helpful. This hotel was a bargain, considering the amenities that are offered. The window of my room looked out on what appeared to be an apartment tower, but if I looked right, there was the Hudson River, and to the left, a nice view of the Empire State Building.

Just outside the hotel is the mad frenzy of midtown. Next time I go to NY I will try to stay in the West Village or Upper West Side. But if you are planning to see one or more plays in Times Square, as I did, this is the perfect location. For bread lovers, I also recommend Amy's Breads on 9th Ave. for breakfast. It's a short walk and worth it. Super quality and very friendly service.

We just stayed 2 nights at the Distrikt. The front entrance is so small and discreet I walked right by it the first time. The lobby is quite small, but furnished in clean, modern decor. The room was minimalist modern - which I like - but the size was a bit smaller than other NYC hotels rooms I've stayed in. Bathroom was very small, although nicely done. The bed was wonderful - very comfortable, nice linens, and with the AC on, room was quiet and cool. The front desk was helpful and responsive to every request. I would definitely recommend this hotel - it is a good mid-town location, at 40th and 8th, with a subway station at the end of the block. It's only drawback is that the particular block it's on is still a bit of a relic of old-time Times Square - porn DVD stores, etc. - and it faces the side of the Port Authority bus terminal.
