We have just spent the last 6 days in New York at the Distrikt. We have been many times before but this was our first time at the Distrikt but it won't be our last! The staff are the friendliest , most helpful people you could ever wish to meet and the rooms are absolutely fine! If you want a view you have to pay extra and get a high up room but this is just what you would expect in Manhattan!
The rooms are spotless , no noise and a load of eating and drinking establishments on the doorstep.
The location is perfect for Midtown and this makes it easy to access the rest of the city by Metro!
A special word about Hugo who was most helpful and real good company!

Room Tip: Pay extra for a room with a view.

My husband & I stayed four 9 nights at The Distrikt Hotel in May thsi year. The hotel although it is near the Port Authority bus terminal - the noise did noy bother us. Neither did the other areas surronding the hotel - probation centre and adult shops. We found the location excellent - close to Hell's Kitchen restaurants as well as the main mid town attractions. The staff and servise were incredible and I would recommend thsi hotel to anyone needing to stay a while in New York.

Here is my quick mini review of the property. Conveniently located near Times Square in Midtown West next to bus terminal. Very clean, well run boutique hotel that represents a great value for the money. The standout at this property is the attitude of the entire staff - from bellmen to check in hosts, the service attitude is laid back but super professional. They never said no to any simple requests. The rooms were on the smallish size but hey, its Manhattan. less expensive alternatives but the level of furnishings makes this place a terrific option if you are on a quick biz trip or you would like to be near Times Square but in a property that you are not 1 of 5000 guests at one time. Bed quality could be a little better but it wasnt that much of a negative.

Room Tip: they have some excellent views of the skyline in some of the rooms facing north

I stayed in the Distrikt Hotel for a week with my partner for my birthday in September. I specifically picked this hotel for its great reviews on Tripadvisor.

We arrived off a transatlantic flight quite early so our room wasn't ready until 3pm, but our luggage was kept in the complimentary Left Luggage room until that time.

I had requested a room on a high floor which disappointingly I didn't get (we were on the 6th) so we didn't have any real views, apart from the awful looking Port Authority building.
That said our room was amazing. It was huge which is very rare in NYC! Two double beds, a flat screen tv, complimentary maps, brownies, chocolates and goodie bags. The bed was probably one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in, with the most exquisite cotton bed sheets.

I will caution that the Port Authority side of the building can be very loud. I know it is NYC! I had to use earplugs to drown out the constant bus traffic noise, conductor whistles, horns blowing etc.

The location is both great and not so great. It's very very handy for Times Square/42nd street/theatre district. So if you want to be in the centre of things it's perfect. The area around Port Authority for those unfamiliar with the neighbourhood, is very run down. There are adult stores, a probation centre and a lot of homeless in the adjacent street. In the week I was there we never had any issues though.

The staff are the real stars of this hotel. They never fail to greet you with a smile on their face, are always ready to help, they are so eager and seem very passionate about their customer facing role. They arranged a private car for our return trip to JFK for the same price as a cab. I was very impressed!

If you want a central, stylish, funky, comfortable hotel (with large rooms!) the Distrikt is the hotel for you. You won't be disappointed.

Thank you very much for taking the time to review Distrikt Hotel. We understand your disappointment with a lower floor, unfortunately those rooms with two beds are often the first to be booked on the higher floors...and our limited number makes it difficult to upgrade. We are, however, thrilled that the team was able to make a difference in your time with us and that you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for your kind comments regarding their service as well as the comfort of your room. I do hope you will visit us again in the future, and that we will be able to upgrade you into a higher floor.

We went on honeymoon there from 10th December. We chose the hotel due to the great reviews, but were disappointed on arrival. I'd emailed the day before travelling to see if they could accommodate us in a high floor room as it was our honeymoon, however, when we arrived, they didn't seem to have a record of our reservation, even though my email had been positively responded to the day before by someone that was clearly clueless. The reservation was actually in my husband's name which we hadn't realised and despite reiterating our honeymoon, were still put on only 3rd floor. I wished I had pressured them more. No congrats either. Thanks guys! The location is right next to Times Square, great for sightseeing, but for us, the bustle wasn't what we really wanted. Our room had a dreadful view of the rear of the hotel and although the room was clean, felt quite businesslike and utilitarian. Not a romantic place! The staff were friendly, but quite overbearing at times and a lot of them milling around the tiny lobby. All in all if you like clean, almost clinical hotels that are near the bustle of the city and great value, this is for you. If you're on your honeymoon, go elsewhere.

Room Tip: Request a room on a high floor with a view out of the front of the hotel. Make them give you one bas...

Thank you for your review of Distrikt. We are very disappointed that we were unable to give you our special honeymooners treatment, but unfortunately, when we received your email our team member checked the system and matched the name you gave K*****y. Those guests did indeed receive some special amenities upon their arrival. Had the name not matched, our very responsible team member would have responded, requesting an alternate name. For other future guests reading your review, we do encourage correspondence through email, Facebook and Twitter with enough advance notice so we may do our best at special arrangements.

The hotel is fairly new and there are only 6 rooms on each floor. The rooms are New York sized with an adequate bathroom. The beds were comfortable and the rooms clean. The price was appropriate as this was "high" season and the city packed! The staff was very polite, helpful and good humored.
