Very impressed by this Hotel. It is a tall thin building, relatively new and very modern. When I made my booking I did request for one of their quietest rooms as I am a light sleeper. The gentleman checking us in said that all rooms were quiet as it was only a small hotel with good soundproofing. I was a bit skeptical by this remark until I discovered that there were only 5 rooms per floor resulting in a weeks work of "noise free" sleep. The rooms were ample in size and very clean. The personal touches of leaving a card every evening on your bed informing you of the following days weather along with a chocolate mint were very welcome. Every time you walked through the reception area you were greeted with an "hello" and the staff were only too willing to advise on restaurant recommendations etc. It really had the feel of a small personal hotel which in the Big Apple is a precious find. I read numerous reviews before booking this hotel and some did comment on it not being in the best area. Well no it's not Times Square but the street it is located on did not concern me at all even on an evening. There is a parole office a few buildings up and yes on a couple of mornings we did see people queuing outside but even this did not make me feel uncomfortable at anytime. You can easily avoid this by walking over one block anyway if you choose not to walk past it. It is ideally located to Port Authority Bus Terminal for which we got a bus from and to the airport. It is also ideal for Times Square, approx 5-10 walk at a slow pace. Will definitely stay at this hotel again if we are lucky enough to return to New York and would recommend to anyone.

We have recently returned from New York where we had a 4 night stay at the District Hotel. We arrived around mid day and although we were too early to check into our room we were welcomed by extremely professional and helpful reception staff. We stored our bags and were offered useful information about the area including a map. The hotel is located within easy walking distance of Times Square, just off 8th Avenue, Subway Station, etc etc.

We asked for a quiet room and were showed to a room facing the back of the hotel which fitted the bill perfectly. The room was good sized, lovely and clean with all the amenities you would expect including a modern pod coffee maker, welcome snack, air conditioning, desk, and free wifi. The bathroom was well appointed with a large walk in shower and plenty of fluffy towels and bathrobes. We were suitably impressed.

Overall this hotel exceeded all our expectations, the staff were helpful at all times, offering advice when asked, responding without delay to any requests ie ice, extra coffee pods, papers etc with a smile.

Thank you all for an excellent stay.

We had an absolutely wonderful time at the Distrikt Hotel.
The staff on reception were very welcoming when we arrived and very helpful during the week with information and directions.
A nice cake was waiting on our return on the first night for my birthday which was a nice gesture.

Location was perfect for all the midtown sights and attractions.
No problems at all with some of the other establishments in the area as mentioned by some people.
The Bar staff were very friendly and helpful with there local knowledge on bars and restaurants in the area.
A mention must go to Martha on the bar for making us very welcome and looking after us each night.

Rooms were spotlessly clean each day and had everything you would need.
The bed was super comfy, shower was nice and powerful.
Nice tea/coffee maker which was a god send after a long day.

Happy hour 5-7 which we made on a couple of occasions was a nice little touch as the appertizers really hit the spot when we got back to the hotel after an action packed day in NYC.
All in all it's a fantastic hotel with great staff, great location in the most amazing city.

See you soon all at the Distrikt

We have just returned from staying at the Districkt and were truly impressed. This is a modern hotel with young enthusiastic staff who do everything they can to make your stay perfect. The hotel rooms are spotless with good quality toiletries. The mid town location is great. Don't worry about the parole office located down the street, we never felt unsafe walking around late at night. This hotel is a good choice you won't be disappointed.

Spent 3 nights here on a recent (October) leisure trip to NYC. Chose the place based on tripadvisor reviews and was not disappointed. Here are the main points:

LOCATION - it is ok. Yes, the hotel is right next to PABT, the parole office and there are a few shady looking places on 40th street as you walk towards 8th Av. BUT - there are a couple more nice hotels right next door (eg. 4 points), the street is quiet, the parolees are only around during the day and you might pass them occasionally on your way, at the most. Trust me, they are not interested in you. The hotel is between 9th and 8th Av. 9th westward is Hell's Kitchen - a more 'colorful' area, not as pretty, clean and 'new' as 8th Av and the area around Bryant Park. The New York Times building is right around the corner on 8th. You are right next door to the hustle and bustle. Sure, it's not as fancy as some areas around Bryant, but it's ok. And it is safe. If you have any concerns about that, please don't. I walked back to the hotel every night with no issues. The city never sleeps, there are plenty of people around and I felt very safe.

AMENITIES - the hotel is small. If you are looking for a place that has a great lobby, several bars, restaurants, space to hang around, get pampered at the spa, etc., this is NOT the place for you. If, however, you are looking for a fresh, young, clean, simple (but good simple) place to stay and be your home base for exploring the city, this is IT. CLEAN, quiet, well-sized rooms (there were 3 of us), comfy beds, attentive and friendly staff, computer access in the lobby, free Wi-Fi, free snacks and drinks during happy hour, in-room tea and coffee replenished daily, free refreshments in the lobby (they have to-go cups). Did I mention it is super clean?

VALUE - great! I booked with a 20% discount. That put me at around $1300 for 3 nights. It might seem steep, but it's NYC! You are a 10 minute walk from Times Square and Broadway, right next to Bryant Park and Parson's New School of Design (Project Runway :-). Got the discount on this webpage.

ACCESS TO DINING - good. Several places to grab a bite - my favorite was the Paris bakery - right across from Parson's. Check it out - you won't regret it! If you need a late snack or water, etc., there is a Duane Reade pharmacy (walgreens) right around the corner on 8th ave. Pizza sold by the slice on the corner of 40th and 9th. Hotel has a small restaurant. Did not eat there, as I preferred to eat while out on the town, but heard it was good.

OVERALL - Awesome place to stay. Would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone! Thank you, Distrikt Hotel!!!
