We stayed 10 nights at the Distrikt in Feb 2013, in a room on the 20th floor looking out over the Port Authority. The room was a good size, beds comfortable, shower pressure great and we were grateful to have a hairdryer, iron and safe in the room. The wifi service to the room was excellent, and the Macs in the lobby very helpful too. Housekeeping service is very good.

The location is ideal - at the corner of 8th Av you will find a bank/ATMs, Duane Reade, the Port Authority building(with a cab rank, and bus service to Woodbury Common), Dean and DeLuca (good alternative to hotel breakfast) and entrance to the subway. Five/ten minutes walk further on, you will be at Times Square/42nd St with more subway lines (including shuttle to Grand Central), theatres and shops. We found it safe to walk in the hotel area at any time.

A big thank you to the friendly staff at the front desk, who gave plenty of help with maps, shopping guides, umbrellas, taxis, and booking a car service to JFK. Special thanks to Kenneth for his help with all of our bags, to Nesha for recommending 5 Napkin Burger on 9th Av, and to Hugo for recommending Toloache.

We had a great stay at the Distrikt and highly recommend it.

Stayed here in Feb for x3 nights. Staff went the extra mile, were friendly & courteous, a pleasure to deal with. Rooms were very nice & very comfortable. Fantastic high pressure shower.
We Had a view of both Empire State Building & River. X4 minute walk to Times Square, Broadway. Within walking distance of several touristy areas. This hotel is a Gem! Would highly recommend to anyone planning a trip to NYC!

Cannot fault this hotel. From the moment we arrived the staff have been more than helpful with luggage, tourist attraction questions, directions & they had a cake in our room for our birthdays! The rooms are perfect size, big bed, good shower & they come tidy everyday & give new towels & chocolates as well as a weather card for the following day.
The location is amazing - 2 blocks from Time Square, 7 blocks from Macy's & the Empire State Building, 10 blocks from Central Park. Can walk to almost all the tourist attractions from the hotel & it's next door to the Port Authority Bus Terminal.

The hotel did everything right. The staff were brilliant, always greeting you as you enter and leave the hotel, and always eager to help any way they can.

We even got a complimentary dessert platter in celebration of our anniversary, plus complimentary brownies! They were all delish and worked a treat on one of the hungry late nights when I was too lazy to pop out for food.

Location - Agree with the previous entry, the hotel is located in a somewhat seedy area (questionable DVD store and our friends staying on the next street apparently had a nice strip joint). We walked down from hotel to 10th-11th Ave one evening to grab a cab to Upper Manhattan and I honestly got abit freaked out (one guy came up to every Asian asking if he could take a picture with them because they looked like Jackie Chan- even when they DIDNT!).

There is a chemist/pharmacy/convenience store and a subway at the 8th Ave corner which came very handy throughout our stay. We were also able to walk to Times Square and back from Pacha nightclub (not by choice) on new year's day.

Room - Honestly abit small (it felt like abit of a squeeze for two) but I have been told this is NYC standard. Housekeeping was consistent and thorough. Wifi worked well although I recall having to reenter password and reconnect in several occasions throughout the stay. Bathroom facilities adequate. Views nothing to shout about. Complimentary New York Times every morning was a plus! Wall-mounted TV was abit small.

I did find it strange when I woke up very late on new year's day and bumped into housekeeping crew on my way out for lunch. They stopped me in my tracks and gave out NYE goodies (crazy glasses, hat, small bottles of champagne n plastic flutes). On 1st Jan?? *scratch head*

Perhaps I made the mistake of expecting USD500++/night facilities and service as this was what I paid for 4 nights over the new year period. The stay was most definitely adequate and comfortable for a boutique hotel, but I am still unable to swallow paying as much as I did.

This hotel is superb! Great location, so central to everything. It's so clean too and the staff are very helpful, friendly and approachable. Free wi fi, warm cider and loan of umbrellas when it rains. We had a big room on the top floor with sights of the city- worth paying a bit extra for this if you can. We arrived to birthday cake and best wishes on my husbands 40th birthday. Our stay in New York was fantastic all round- our hotel experience was simply the icing on the cake!

Room Tip: We went for the king on the top floor with city views. It costs a bit more but a great treat.
