I had a great experience with Hampton Inn Time Square South. The staff was always friendly and professional. Room was comfortable and clean. Of course the room was small, but this is NYC! It was clean and comforable and that is the most important thing.

DO NOT make the mistake of believing you are staying on, or for that matter, really anywhere near Times Square. Don't expect to look out your window and see the "glitz and the glamor of flashing neon signs". You're not in the right neighborhood.

From a Hampton Inn perspective this hotel is adequate. Rooms clean and "no nonsense. The hotel was generally quiet and the bed's comfortable. Rooms are small and typical of a Manhattan hotel. I've definitely had bigger and seen a few smaller. Bathrooms are even smaller. I could barely turn around in the shower.

I was "upgraded" as a Diamond member to a room on 27 with a view. It was nice, because I didn't have to pay for it. If, however, you are considering paying for a view. Pass and save the money.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good and freshly made.

Not much in the near neighborhood to speak of. Taxis did not appear to be plentiful, so you might have to have one called or walk up/down a block or two to find a cab.

Room Tip: One thing to be aware of is there are only two elevators, so at key points in time, there can be a s...

When you stay at a hotel in Manhattan there are two things you can be sure of. It will be expensive and the rooms will be small.

On my last visit I chose this hotel because I had business in the Times Square neighborhood (which is easily accessed from this location) and because I like the consistency of the experience I have at Hampton Inns around the country (and, of course, because I like my Hilton points). Also, although the room was, as expected, expensive, for Manhattan it was not overly so (I spent $270 - which, by the way, inflated to $312 by the time NYC and New York State took their tax bites).

However, even expecting the room to be small I was surprised at just how small it was. I had a room with 2 double beds on the 11th floor. I could barely turn around in the room - literally! I can not imagine what it would have been like if 4 people had actually tried to fit in that room at one time. The bathroom was equally small with no counter space on which to put toiletries.

If small doesn't bother you, this hotel otherwise was very nice. It had a very gracious staff and all the amenities you expect from Hampton Inns. Just be prepared for very small rooms.

Room Tip: In Manhattan always remember the higher your room the quieter it will be. NYC never quiets down, so...

Thank you for being a loyal guest of our family of hotels and for sharing feedback on your recent stay with us. We appreciate your input as a frequent traveler and understand your frustration with the size of our guestrooms. As space is at a premium in the city, we do our best to maximize the space we have and apologize if you were uncomfortable with our room's layout. We will keep your comments in mind as we constantly look for ways to improve our guests' satisfaction and hope you will consider staying with us again the next time you visit New York.

Thank you,

Rooms are small, but staff is friendly and complimentary breakfast was great. They also had complimentary cookies and hot apple cider one of the nights. They probably had it every evening, but we were always out and about. We got a great deal on our hotel. It's about 3 blocks from Times Square and about 3 blocks to the subway system. Close enough to get around, but a small walk from anything. We would stay here again if the price is right. I would pay a little more to stay right in Times Square, but only a little more, since it's not far, either.

Booked this hotel for my niece who turned 21 and two friends. Cozy rooms great location. I had previously stayed there and every morning they provided breakfast in or a sack to take with you. Would head to Central Park and enjoy our muffin granola and banana. Located within walking distance of Times Square. Felt safe and loved the local store being close for supplies. Bed comfortable rooms small but nice clean and everything we needed.

The hotel was in a great location. Easy to get the subway or go to a local bar, restaurant. This is a dependable hotel that was very clean. The breakfast was very good too. We were there with 3 other couples and had a great time.

Room Tip: ask for a higher floor - otherwise you will hear the trains run at night.

I picked this property because of the Hampton Inn brand and price point for a recent family stay in NYC. Compared to the higher-priced properties in Times Square, this place is a gem. The front desk staff was great - even with a check-in policy at 3 PM, the staff actually got us checked in early even though we only stopped to leave our bags with the bellman.

The room was virtually spotless, clean and comfortable. Standard NYC-sized room (smallish) but it actually felt pretty spacious. Internet and WiFi were fast and responsive. The upper floors provide a decent view of the area.

If you're looking for convenience to Broadway, Times Square, look no further. Macy's? The Empire State Building? MSG? It's all right here. Going to the WTC area is a short subway ride on the E line. I recommend going for the local places to eat rather than the chain joints. 2 slices NY-style and a cold soda for under $3 right around the corner. This place is on my "stay here unless it's sold out" list.

Great job to the staff and management of this property.

Room Tip: A room on the 10th floor or above really cuts the street noise and improves the view.
