Visited during Christmas 2012, Stayed Sunday - Wednesday 12/23-25. We are a family of 5: 2 parents, Sons ages 21, 23, daughter 18. Stayed in rooms 405 and 401. Both have 2 double beds Given this is Manhattan, the rooms were tight but ok in size. Room 405 looks out on West 39th St. Not much to see, but they charge an additional fee for the view. As we were not there on a regular weekday, I can't gauge the normal weekday noise from the street. Boys room was in back without a "view" and was a bit cheaper. We also had a charge for a "Sunday night" stay
Location is on West 39th street, nearer to 9th Ave.
Heat was fine.
There is a great Starbucks on 8th and 39th that has an expansive upstairs room with lots of tables and chairs. Very easy walks to Times Square (intersection for subways) and Herald Square.
There is a passable free breakfast that is open until 10am.

Room Tip: Rooms with a view of 39 st cost extra, but there isn't anything to see. We did not hear the ele...

Just wanted to say some nice things about this hotel:

The hotel is located at West 39th St @ 8th Ave...

It's about 3-4 block walk to get into Times Square, which is not a long walk anyhow, you are only 2 blocks to Port Authority Bus Terminal and multiple subways go through that station...

The hotel has 6 rooms to a floor, some face the back of the hotel (with no view) 3 rooms face the city (with a nice view) (the lower you are the more street noise or construction traffic that you will hear)

We were in Rooms 2701 and 2702 (there are 32 floors total)

The GM of the hotel Mimi and the Front Desk Manager (Danielle) went out of their way to make sure that myself and my family were having a great stay and went out of their way to say the least...

The breakfast was very busy at times (granted it's the holidays), if you get there after 8:30 a.m. you will be greeted by a lot of people...the attendants in that room were absolutely the best I've ever seen with service, being friendly and helping out...they worked their butts off to say the least...

The rooms yes are on a bit of the smaller side, but it's the little details that make a big difference, service with a smile and the going the extra effort...

They also have a concierge desk that is staffed each day, and they were all very knowledgeable...

Will definately return next time, as I always stay here each time I come to New York...

Thanks again Hampton Inn....

Room Tip: If you want a quieter room ask for a room ending in (odd) numbers, rooms with a view (even numbers)

This was my 2nd visit to New York. the first time I'm stayed at The Novotel on Broadway which was nice but I much preferred the Hampton Inn. In the Fashion District and only a few blocks away from Times Square it was ideally situated. My room was at the back of the hotel facing another hotel so there was no traffic noise and very quiet in general.

I booked a kingsize room for me and my sister for the week leading up to Christmas week. The room was lovely very clean (the shower was AMAZING). Check in at 3pm check put at 12pm. Room included large TV, Iron and ironing board, hair dryer and coffee making facilities ample storage as well alarm and phone-where local calls were free. There was also free Wi-Fi for all guests too which was brilliant as the last hotel I stayed in you had to pay......also in the lobby they had a room with 2computers for internet access as well as access to printers.

The floor i stayed on had an ice machine and vending machine. The ice machine was my only fault with the hotel as fab as it was having this facility it was a little noisy at times more noticable at nights but not enough to disturb sleep too much. They had two lifts and a stair case. Neither I found any problems with.

Buffet breakfast was served 6-10am adequate seating and lots of choice from hot, cold and fresh fruit yoghurts etc. They had a tea/coffee/hot chocolate facilities in the dining area acessable 24hrs which was fab as well as coffee machine in the room.

Staff were very helpful with any questions we had, and on a few occasions guests were treat to a cookie or muffin as compliments from the hotel which was a lovely gesture. Nothing was ever too much bother for them really friendly and approachable.

Apart from a nosiy ice machine which wasnt actually all that bad I cannot find fault with this hotel. It is defo somewhere I would stay if I was to visit again and somewhere I would reccomend to others to stay. Ideally placed great facilities and brilliant friendly staff.

Thanks Hampton Inn :-)

Room Tip: Choose a floor without a ice machine!

Just finished a five night stay at the Hampton Inn Times Square South. I was very pleased with my stay and would definitely recommend the hotel to anyone looking for a reasonably priced hotel room in Midtown New York.

There are many pros about the hotel, first of which is the level of service. I found every hotel staff member I encountered to be genuinely warm, friendly, and helpful. Check in time is at 3 p.m. and I arrived a little after 9 am. I went to the hotel on the off-chance that they might have a room available. I have found that early check-in can be hit or miss with the Hampton Inn chain. Some are willing to let you check in if they have a room available and others stay strict to the check in time. There was a room available for me and the Front Desk person graciously let me check in. I was even more surprised and impressed that when I tried to tip the staff member for her kindness, she wouldn't accept it and insisted she was happy to do it.

The location is great. You are essentially in the Fashion District and not more than 4 blocks to Times Square and the Theatre District in one direction and Madison Square Garden is about another 8 blocks in the opposite direction. You are one block from Port Authority Bus Terminal and have a plethora of subway options available to you. Additionally, as you are essentially right next to Times Square, there are a plethora of food options nearby.

The hotel room itself can feel a little on the small side, but in comparison to most New York Hotels, the room is closer to a standard Hampton Inn room than not... meaning, it actually feels spacious compared to other hotel rooms in the area.

The hotel is small and only has what seems to be about 4 - 5 rooms on each floor. This means that each room is near the elevator, which, if you are a light sleeper or sensitive to sound, you may have a difficult time with hearing the elevator running and chiming at all hours. Additionally, as you're in a pretty busy area, you can also hear street noise and while I was there, it sounded like construction was going on close by which seemed to provide constant noise at all hours.

If you are sensitive to noise, I might also offer the following tip, request a room that is not on a floor with an ice machine. As I mentioned, the floors are small and the ice machines are loud. I was not on a floor with one, but I can't imagine it being very quiet. Also, I was in a room without a view, facing the back of the hotel. If you face street, I imagine that you'll get even more traffic noise.

One other con about the hotel is the elevator. They only have two which seem to run very slowly. If possible, you might want to request a room on one of the lower floors so that you cam walk up to your room if necessary. With the number of guests and the number of floors, coupled with the fact that the staff and cleaning service also use those elevators, you might be waiting up to 10 minutes for one to even arrive to you.

Breakfast is standard Hampton Inn fare. Breakfast is served between 6 - 10 am, but if you do not arrive before 830, it gets very crowded with limited seating and food running out quickly. The staff handling the food did their best, but often seemed slow to replenish the hot items (or more accurately, did not seem to be anticipating when food would run out and therefore it seemed did not prepare new trays of hot items until everything ran out). On a couple of days, I found empty trays and had to wait 10 minutes for it to be replaced.

Overall, though this is a great hotel with a great staff in a very convenient location. The rates seem pretty fair and I think most people would be pleased with a stay here.

Room Tip: As stated above, those with noise sensitivity may want to request a room on a floor without an ice m...

Usually we stay at the Inter-Continental or the Sheraton, when we want to see a Broadway show, but this time, following a great Hampton Inn experience in California, we decided to give this property a try. What a great choice! Rooms were small but had everything: remodeled showers, super-comfy beds, ironing board, dryers, coffee pot, free wi-fi. The heating unit was very quiet, not like at some other, pricier hotels. Buffet breakfast was free and available until 10 a.m., and since there were four of us in two rooms, all with different wake-up hours, it really helped. We were able to stagger the breakfast without inconveniencing anyone. The business center (free) enabled me to leave my laptop at home (Amen). Free hot tea/coffee and warm cookies is great after a blustery day. The staff was helpful and friendly, the maids did not try to enter the rooms at 9 am, as has happened to us elsewhere in Manhattan. Floor very quiet and no noise from the street. And check-out time was 12 , not 11 am, so we were able to go out and shop much more leisurely before hitting the road the last day. Overall, a GREAT EXPERIENCE!!! WE'LL BE BACK FOR SURE. Location is divine, three blocks to Macy's and huge number of shops, within walking distance to Broadway, one block to Subway... can't ask for more....

Room Tip: Sometimes the elevator is crowded (when everyone is checking out in mid-morning) so just go up to go...

My daughter and I spent Dec 14 - 17 at The Hampton Inn and it was the perfect hotel for our recent stay. Daily included breakfast was good with a variety of choices - but the scrambled eggs were not fresh (powder maybe?) Rooms were clean and service was great. We had a problem with our toilet and hair blower but they were fixed within minutes of a call to the front desk. It was nice to have a business center to use the computer and print information and boarding passes for flights. Hotel is located about 7 blocks(easy walking distance) from Time Square and with the Holiday travelers and tourists it was the perfect distance away from the traffic. It was one of the cheaper hotels and was a great value. I had read previous read reviews about slow elevators, they were sold out and we had no issues with the elevators at all. We would stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the higher floors and you'll have a nicer view of the city.

My wife and I stayed at the Hampton on 8 December for 5 nights. The check in was very quick, Thanks Kelvin.

I've read reviews regarding the lifts. During our whole stay we didn't have to wait anytime for lifts.

Breakfast was really good and plentiful. The ladies in the kitchen are lovely. I had a shock of one of the appliances literally causing a bang and sparks flew. That certainly woke me up!!!

The rooms were fantastic, very clean and whilst we were out shopping the maid looked after our room.

We enjoyed our stay with Hampton and will stay here again and let my friends know too. Thank you xxx
