Went based on a guide book recommendation. Went at sunset and sat outside. It was really lovely. As the sun went down, they brought over heaters to keep our group warm. Had the "Hot as a Cucumber" Martini. Really tasty. I think it was around $20 per drink, so for us, it is a special occasion place.

Salon de Ning Rooftop is one of my favorite places in NYC. The targeted market is sophisticated, elaborated, fun and yet savy connoiseurs of what a really good drink is in a sensual ambiance that has the most extravagant view of the city. The mix is good, the employees are fun and professional knowing thier patrons and how to exceed their expectations. I highly reccommend the Lychee Martini, which is the best i ever had and ... the Lemon Drop martini almost as good but definetely my choice if i want something more intriguing. On Fridays and Saturdays there is a DJ that plays the typical club style in fashion music. Though, i understand the need for this commercial music, once in a while there is room for more artistic new music.
A real five star, five diamond experince. Well done.

We stopped in for a cocktail before dinner. Views were ok but not spectacular, disappointed to find ladies room scattered with used hand towels (paper) when paying $25 for a Cosmo. Service was fair and it was very relaxing, but, I would definitely try another rooftop bar next time.

There is a hidden express elevator you need to take if you aren't a guest at the hotel. Just enter on the bottom level next to the bell desk and go down the hallway. Take the elevator to the 23rd floor for great views. The photos I had seen on the hotel website don't reflect how it looks now. It is still nice, but there aren't any benches or lounge chairs. There are a few patios and all have great views. The drinks are expensive...$24 for a martini, but one drink was fine. Our waitress Michelle was super helpful when we asked for restaurant recommendations. Overall I would recommend going for a drink and views.
