My husband and I decided to try Ponty's after he spotted their daily "pre-theater 3 course prix fixe" menu displayed in front of the restaurant. It happened to be a Saturday. When we were seated, we noticed the menus we were given made no mention of the prix fixe dinner. The waiter said it was only offered Monday through Friday and showed us menus stating that. He seemed annoyed when my husband pointed out that the menu outside the restaurant indicated the offer was daily. The waiter checked with one of the owners who instructed him to honor the prix fixe menu. From that point on, it was a great experience. We started with fried calamari and a beet salad. The main courses were stuffed flounder and seafood couscous. Desserts were tiramisu and creme brulee. All were delicious and at $25, a real bargain. It is owned by two cousins from Senegal who trained under Daniel Boulud and Jean Georges Vongerichten, and their menus reflect Mediterranean, Middle Eastern and African influences. We will definitely return.

High end dining in the French tradition, but with an African twist. Great place for a date, business dinner, or solo dining. Very friendly staff, but unobtrusive.

Our friends discovered this Bistro and were excited to introduce us to it. It was a true discovery for us and it'll be on our must-do list on our NYC trips. It's a small place, and seemed to be filled with neighborhood regulars. The staff are extremely cordial and helpful. The menu is fab, with a unique mixture of african, mediterranean, and french flavors and choices.

Calabash soup, poulet tagine, niokolokoba with a side of plantains. The mains were enough for 3 adults to split. Amazing flavor all around. Plantains were an excellent counterpart to the spice of the tagine. Calabash ( butternut squash) soup for starter was delicious.
Staff were pleasant and accommodating--quickly adjusting tables to fit our infant stroller. Atmosphere is intimate yet relaxed. Would definitely dine here again!
