Had a Sunday brunch here; nice enough environment; lots of folks. But -- ham and cheese omlette used a slice of deli ham and some sort of inedible cheese. My fork was bent out of shape -- waiter never came by, so I used the table to bend it back to a usable shape.. We asked for salt and pepper and had possession of them for 90 seconds before they were whisked away -- so season early and fully. First time I'd ever been served a meal where the watier did not ask how everything was. He couldn't --- he didn't come by till we begged for the check. No offer of coffee, tea, dessert--maybe the staff is just endlessly overworked? The eggs were OK (as long as you didn't want cheese and ham with that omlette). Will not be going back.

Two young men from Senegal came to New York City and gained wonderful experience working in some of the best restaurants in NYC. Now, they have their own restaurant, Ponty's Bistro in the Gramercy Area on Third Avenue. The food is delightfully delicious with a mix of African spices and French touch, reasonably priced and good sized portions. And both of these chef/owners make it a point to personally meet their guests. The staff are attentive and knowledgeable. Ponty's is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We frequent this wonderful gem at least once a week and frequently more often. While it could be described as a great neighborhood restaurant, as a long time New Yorker, I would describe it as one of the better small restaurants in New York City. Best to make reservations because it has become a popular place for good reasons.

We had a wonderful meal here. Outstanding food, efficient service, and reasonably price; this place is a gem. Standouts include the mussels with African spices, lamb shank, duck a la orange (special), and branzino with plaintains. The one flaw was the tough lobster in the shrimp and lobster salad, but overall the food is quite good.

My first visit - we had a Travelzoo deal for brunch. Small place nicely decorated - French and African - the brunch was yummy I had lobster benedict and my friend had florentine benedict with unlimited mimosas or bloody marys - definitely recommend.

Went there in March. Had the mussels etc as mentioned in other reviews. The food was really good. Though I believed in most of the reviews, it still surprised me how good the food really was. Service was ggod. Ambience was nice as well.
