Owner description: We believe in Food Tour Freedom. Whatever ticket type you choose you get to eat what you want and how much you want. We think that's much more fun! Very unique subway and/or walking experiences available as part of a guided public tour or guided private tour that is different from most standard guided food tours. We also offer self-guided On Your Own Experiences which are food walk-throughs of various New York neighborhoods and are designed to help save you money over eating in tourist restaurants. Our self-guided On Your Own Experiences can be used as a tour, a list or as a tour first to sample and you can return to your favorites for full meals. Each Experience also includes some low cost breakfast options near major tourist attractions. Our guided tours are true eating tours, not sampling tours and we also offer restaurant recommendations (as noted in many reviews) on our guided tours to help you eat well and save money for the rest of your trip. You'll see non-tourist neighborhoods in a relaxed manner and while on the guided tours you will be mingling with others from around the world in a larger group format that is much like a field trip. For those who do want to experience great restaurants and save money we offer our Customized Restaurant Concierge Service. This is a personal service available through by contacting us directly that helps you save and eat great based on your lodging location, attractions you are seeing, food preferences and budget. To experience a culture one must experience their cuisine and since New York is the world's melting pot its many cuisines is its shared culture. Food On Foot Tours takes visitors beyond the tourist attractions to the largest buffet in the world, New York. You'll see the neighborhoods where New Yorkers live and eat. You'll share our passion for all things New York and travel the way New Yorkers do, by subway and foot.

“It was ok”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

We did a food on foot tour last year in New York and liked it so decided to do it again this year.

We did a different area this time (East Village) - the food was ok, nothing special even for this type of food tour.

Although I realise this is a mingling tour and there will be a wait for food, regardless of this, 50 minutes at a hot dog store is too long as it took the vibe away for me.

I probably would not do a food on foot tour again but if you have not done it before I would still give it a go.

Hopefully my feedback will be accepted rather than challenged.

As you know we are a non-gourmet tour and food tastes are totally subjective so we understand that you liked the food on your first tour better than your second. From time to time we can have an unexpected restaurant issue as we note to you either before you book the tour or before you take the tour depending on when we first communicate. If there was a delay on that day we apologize and thank you for recommending the tour.

“A highlight of my visit”
Reviewed November 4, 2012

An excellent food experience. Corey's recommendations were spot-on and suited the tastes of everyone in our group. As a vegetarian, I had loads of choices at every venue and was impressed by the quality of the food I chose. I also liked the route Corey followed as we got to see a part of New York that we hadn't visited. Another positive aspect of the tour was meeting and chatting to other visitors to the city. If you like good food, you'll like this tour.

“Enjoyed Immensely!”
Reviewed November 3, 2012

This past summer 3 girlfriends and I experienced Corey and his Food on Foot tour. It was a highlight and we tasted food and went to places that we wouldn't have gone to on our own. Like he says he isn't an elaborate tour operator, he uses the subway and you walk - which we wanted to experience and enjoyed. At one part of our tour when he stopped and talked about other restaurants and food (to let us digest), we all wished that he had a handout, so that for the remainder of our stay we could go to these places. That was our only complaint. Thanks Corey

“Food on Foot - Stuff your face and keep moving! :)”
Reviewed November 2, 2012

I took the 'Going West' tour with Corey on October 24th and it was AMAZING! Corey is a true New Yorker: passionate for his city, knows the best and cheapest eats, and is honest (he will tell you to move if you are blocking the sidewalk!) I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting New York. I met lots of great people from other parts of the world, and with 6 different stops, I couldn't even manage the dessert at the final stop! Although you pay for the tour and the food, it is definitely worth it since you can choose at each stop what YOU want, not what the tour guide has predecided for the entire group before meeting them (usually what happens when you get samples!) Eat a variety of delicious and reasonably priced food and keep exploring the city on foot so you don't pack on too many calories :)

“Cheap but fabulous eats in NYC!”
Reviewed October 30, 2012

We loved the Food on Foot tour last weekend! It was our favorite part of the trip. As much as we love a special occasion fancy dinner, this tour showed us places we would never have found on our own. And as a bonus we got to meet other folks visiting NYC from all over the world. It was very well-paced. We made six stops but never felt rushed and more importantly never felt pressured to order anything, though Corey did make some great recommendations that I'm glad we followed. It is the perfect way to sample true NYC cuisine in a low-key laid-back way and for not much money. Our (shared) order at the first stop was under $2 -- seriously! And you do want to share or you'll never make it thru all the stops! Budget about $15-$20 per person and you'll eat more than enough!
