“9:45 Sail”
Reviewed August 24, 2010

My boyfriend and I did not enjoy this sail. We went out towards the statue of liberty and came right back to the pier. The whole trip took about 90 minutes which for the limited views made this a big waste of time and money. We took a bus tour at night which gave much better views of the city and the bridges. Also keep in mind that this is in no way a tour. You just stand on a boat and look out at the water. Other than getting the sailboat going, I feel like the crew did not really do anything so I was confused as to why they asked for tips at the end of the sail. It may be better for others, but we were very unimpressed.

“Best Way to Sail in New York Harbour”
Reviewed August 14, 2010

We went on the Daytime Statue Sail using our New York City Pass tickets. Having sailed in New York Bay previously, we found this way to be far better than the normal tourist package rides. It wasn't busy, the leisurely pace was a nice contract to the rush around New York. Staff were polite and facilities were good.

“Amazing experience on the Clipper City schooner”
Reviewed August 12, 2010

We took the twilight sail on a Thursday evening in August 2010. It was absolutely delightful - just being on the water was a welcome change from the oppressive heat in the city. The crew of the Clipper City were friendly, professional and completely competent. The cruise took us close enough to the Statue of Liberty to get some really fantastic pictures, and there were plenty of photo opportunities from all sides of the boat, though you are free to move around if you wish. We got a beautiful view of the Manhattan skyline, all lit up, when we returned to the pier. We could not have been more thrilled.

For previous reviewer(s) who complained about the lack of "spiel," that's exactly why I would recommend this cruise. No irritating tour guide on a loud speaker, just you and the crew, who, by the way, are more than happy to answer questions or tell you about the various landmarks if you ask.

“The perfect end to a perfect day!”
Reviewed August 8, 2010

We went to NYC on our honeymoon and booked the sunset cruise on the Clipper City.
The atmosphere on the boat was amazing, there was Reggae Music playing not too loud, the crew was very entertaining, the guests on board were asked to help putting the sails up and when we mentioned that it was our honeymoon one member of the crew actually brought us two glasses of champagne.
The view was spectacular, we got really close to the Statue of Liberty and we took some fantastic pictures. When we now think back to our honeymoon we always say that this was one of our favourite moments.

“relaxing sail to the statue of liberty”
Reviewed June 11, 2010

this trip lasts 90 minutes and takes you up close to the statue, the best time for the sail I think is the 430pm one, there is a bar on the boat and the sails get put up! amazing crew too and coming back to the pier a great view of the brooklyn and manhattan bridges along with the new york skyline!
