As a consultant I've had the pleasure of staying in many hotels in Manhatten. However, I found one that I call home. The Staybridge Suites is by far the best hotel in Manhatten; this is due to the wonderful staff and atmosphere of the hotel.

However, if there is one person who stands out above the rest and that's the bartender Samatha. She's the only bartender in Manhatten who I feel generally cares about her patrons and is always willing to give a weary traveler an ear. You may enter the bar with a frown but you will always leave smiling.

Thanks Sam!!!

Room Tip: Higher floors have a great view!

Just came home from a 6 nigths staying in NY. Staybridge Suites Times Square was a very nice experience. Very nice staff everywhere; in the reception, in the restaurant, the luggageman/-hunk, the driver of the hotel-car, the house-keeping staff....everyone was nice! Wonderful room at the 24th floor with a greate view towards the Hudson River (between the houses...). Greate well-equiped kitchen-area (large fridge and even a dishwasher). Comfortable bed and it was clean everywhere. The location was perfect, close to Times Square, the Theatre district, lots of restaurants and everything we needed. We'll be back!

If you look for a perfect hotel in Manhattan, look no further. This is an amazing place that somehow reads your mind and gives you everything you need.

I ordered it after seeing the reviews at Tripadvisor and getting a great quote in Bookings.com

Arriving at the hotel, located just minutes from Times Square, I was greeted by a friendly staff member and checked in quickly. I was about to ask about breakfast, Internet and gym when the clerk told me that there is complementary wifi, breakfast and a fitness center at the basement. It's like he read my mind.

And that's what I felt throughout the hotel. I was in town for business for a few days, and thought of buying groceries and storing them in the hotel's minibar like I always do. Turns out you don't have to. Staybridge suites are real suites - with a fully equipped kitchen. Home sized fridge, cooking utilities and utensils, microwave, dishwasher, coffee machine - the works. It even had a courtesy recipe booklet. I swear.

The room was decent sized, very clean and well furnished. Big flat TV, ironing board and lots of power outlets - something a business traveler always appreciates. Very nice bed, and very nice shower area with an easy to use shower that comes with all the goodies you can think of. The shampoo was already inside the shower stall. Mind reading at its best.

Breakfast area is small, cozy, clean and with all the food you'd want. Not a huge selection like in the mega hotels but very nice nevertheless. The fitness room is small, tidy, and has the basic gear.

Overall it is a GREAT place, highly recommended for small families and business travelers. Excellent value for money.

I took a trip with my school in a group of 29. Staybridge Suites was very accommodating with us helping us get in our rooms at literally 1 am and allowing us to store all of our luggage in a room before we loaded the bus late afternoon. The breakfast was AMAZING. The rooms were small, but comfortable. The best part was the friendly staff that offered advice about nearest subways and places to eat. If felt as though the team was working for us to have the best time possible, and we did.

Room Tip: The elevators get very busy and sometimes run slowly, chose a lower level room so you can run the st...

Have just had 9 days staying at the Staybridge in Times Square.
The Pros are: Close to Times Square & transport, comfortable beds, breakfast is good - mind you at times pretty hard to get a seat, but you do have the option of taking it back to your room if you want.

The Cons are: Elevators are extremely slow, we were lucky being on a higher floor we managed to get a lift when they eventually arrived, but many people missed out on being able to squeeze in.
We had a room opposite 2 of the lifts & found it very noisy when people were waiting for lifts. As someone mentioned previously walls very thin.

This hotel is good, but after spending 9 days in this area of New York, I would definitely want to experience another area of city if I'm lucky enough to visit again. Staff generally tried to be helpful, but I did feel on a few occasions that front desk were non committal of requests.

Another annoying factor was when making original booking 10 months ago I had asked for a view of Empire State Building , we were given a high floor, but our view was of roof top car park of Port Authority building. Not the view we'd hoped for.

Room Tip: High room & request away from elevators.

This was our first trip to New York. We stayed for five nights but whilst this hotel ticks most of the boxes, its just missing something!

Location is great for a first timer, situated on 40th and 9th, it was within short walking distance of everything. About 5 minutes and you will be standing in Times Square! Empire state building is only 6 blocks away, Madison Square Garden also in easy reach and the Port Authority Bus Terminal is across the road for going to Jersey Gardens. It's also only about a ten minute walk to the circle line sightseeing tour. The only time we actually needed to use a taxi was when we spent a day down in lower manhattan as this is a bit too far away to walk.

Hotel itself is ok. There is a small lobby, small bar (pricey but the drinks were lovely and strong!!) and not much else amenity wise so if you plan on spending time in your hotel, this may not be the place for you. That being said, the rooms were a good size, free wifi was great, great bathroom (loved the big shower), room was kept very clean, lots of fresh towels and toiletries daily and the kitchenette was lovely, however we never used it as we were didn't come across anywhere to buy food.

Do NOT rely on the convenience store downstairs, there is nothing available here that you could use to make a decent meal. It mostly stocks snacks and drinks for those late night cravings. In general in New York, it seems to be cheaper to eat out than to go to the grocery store and buy the makings of meals so don't expect to use your kitchenette much.

Noise is a bit of an issue. In New York, if you aren't used to city sounds, sirens, buses, trucks etc. these are going to wake you probably no matter what hotel you are in. But the Air Con/Heating unit is unbelievably loud! Definitely took a few days to learn how to sleep through it! Also, whilst the rooms appear to be quite soundproofed once inside, when you are standing in the hallways you can hear everything from screaming kids, to couples conversations etc. Expect to wait a while for the lifts too!

Breakfast really isn't that great. There are two cereals on offer, both of which were very random bland types, not two generic types that most would eat. There was some hot food on offer but it really wasn't too great. Small selection of bread and bagels which suffice to keep you going. I expected more from a breakfast buffet e.g. fresh fruit salad (not just bruised fruit in a basket), pastries, plain eggs (not plastic omlettes with cheese) etc. Whilst we were able to compromise a bit and find stuff that would fill us, I don't think you would find much to please children here. The breakfast room is also chaotic in the mornings, and with a lack of seating available you generally find yourself having to take your breakfast into the bar to eat. Breakfast runs until 10 on weekdays.

The hotel check in time is 4pm but staff will look after your bags for you. We were able to check in early which was quite fortunate. The hotel can also arrange a car service for you when you are returning to the airport...it costs the same as a regular yellow cab fare + tip only its more luxurious. I would recommend this as its a nice way to end your trip.

Overall, this hotel is good, not amazing but good. The staff are friendly, the location is very good and the price was fine. Would I stay again - probably yes, it wins me on location, however given that the price is on par with many other places, this wouldn't be number 1 on my list next time.

I've included some photos so that people can see the hotel for themselves, maybe I had set my expectations too high but in my opinion this place lacks the atmosphere of a hotel and is more like apartments i.e. everyone comes in and goes straight to their rooms.

Room Tip: Our room was about halfway up, we were looking onto the car park of the port authority bus terminal...
