Pleasant, safe location

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Sep 6, 2011
We consistently stay at this hotel for the past 2 years due to its safe location, solid service, clean rooms, nearby subways, and surrounding eateries and 24-hour pharmacies. But I was surprised at the erratic wi-fi service and couldn't get much response from the front desk. I was told the hotel could only provide wi-fi, but was not responsible for the slow speed. Actually, my laptop froze continually in the evening, and I had to wait until morning to successfully surf the web and my email. Sonia was helpful as always at breakfast, and the front desk stored our luggage after checkout until we left the city.

Great new place right at Wall St. and South Street Seaport. So much to do and things to see. The hotel was immaculate, modern and convenient. The only negative was the breakfast that is provided. It could use fresher food and more variety. Otherwise, we will be staying there again on future trips to Manhattan.

The Holiday Inn Express at Water St-Wall St is located in the financial district. If you are on a fun trip to NYC, you would be better off staying in Midtown rather than here. Quite a few eateries around, but all of them close at 10pm. So have your dinner plans accordingly. The room was a bit on the smaller side, but you cant expect more in Downtown Manhattan. The amenities were good; the internet worked great; the bath was decent. The room looked recently renovated and clean. The complimentary breakfast menu left a bit wanted. The service inside the cafeteria was not very welcoming. The front desk service was professional. Would definitely go there again (if on a business trip/got a real cheap deal)!

The location is great, near Battery Park, where one can walk to catch Ferry to Statue of Liberty. Both Front Desk and Housekeeping during my stay here was below average.
The Free Breakfast offered daily was good, clean and their employee in this area were great and welcoming to their visitors. Stayyed here Early August the A/C and shower qualities were excellent!.

My family and I stayed here the weekend of July 30th, 2011. We booked this last minute because we got a great deal-a junior suite for $159 including breakfast. The room was big enough although not huge. We had a queen bed, (it was advertised as a king bed but was actually a queen), and a twin sofa bed. It was enough room for four people and super clean. There is also a 32 inch flat screen tv, refrigerator and microwave and we had a great view of the buildings around us. All in all we were very pleased. Sonya in the breakfast room worked very hard keeping the food coming out and making sure everyone was satisfied. The front desk personnel, with the exception of one woman who was not in a good mood, was fantastic. The subway is about two blocks up on Wall Street with the Seaport two blocks in the opposite direction.
If you are looking for a clean, affordable and quiet hotel this is the one for you. However, if you are looking for the hustle and bustle of Times Square then you need to move uptown more. We however were very happy to have a relaxing weekend.

Room tip: Ask for a high floor away from elevators for less noise
