“Nothing exceptional”
Reviewed September 18, 2012

This restaurant is located in the fashionable Bowery district, absolutely fantastic interior and decoration, feels cozy and comfortable. Unfortunately the service we experienced was cool, distant and close to unfriendly. Also, for a decorated chef like Daniel Bouloud the food didn't get anywhere close to expectation. We had a mix of brunch/lunch, the Boulangiere Basket and jams were great, but clearly this is not what we came for. The burgers were average, small portions and not close to as tasty and creative as much cheaper places would offer, the salmon was boring and the Amish chicken tasteless. The desserts were brilliant though -- but very much overpriced. Overall, not a place to come back, there are other restaurants of equal or even better reputation, more value for money and simply better food.

“Burger with kimchi rocks”
Reviewed September 15, 2012

Beer to match the burgers, or vice-versa.
Clean, tasty, appealing presentation and affordable (though def not cheap). Great chips.
Better overall experience than going to 3* Daniel. Was $90 for 2 instead of $900 @ Daniel.
I'll be back soon...

“Brunch at DBGB”
Reviewed September 10, 2012

Had a Sunday reservation for brunch with our son, daughter-in-law and two year old twin grandchildren. The restaurant was not busy, as it was still early, and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating. Bread basket was a nice assortment of tasty pastries and breads and each of our mains were delicious and unique. Children's meals were brought out quickly and service was attentive, professional and friendly. A great addition to the East Village dining scene.

“Great Food for Everyone”
Reviewed September 2, 2012

I ate here with friends with children. Three kids ages 7 to 11 and four adults. The menu is confusing but once the waiter explained how to order everything went well. The waiter suggested ordering a variety of appetizers for the table to share and then select entrees. The menu is large and the headings are confusing. Once we settled the confusion everything went smoothly. I just had to go out of my way to get the waiter to explain everything to us. He should have explained the menu when we first sat down, opposed to us asking him what's going on.
We started out with an assortment of appetizers, a couple of different sausages, a couple of salads, clams and sushi tuna. They were all excellent. I had the sea bass which was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside with the perfect amount of seasoning. My daughter had the skate fish and loved it. My husband had a burger and thought it was the best burger he's ever had. The desserts looked wonderful but we full from dinner so we didn't order any. I would definitely go back. I would love to try the whole roast pig!

“Burgers and beer...”
Reviewed August 30, 2012

We were looking for somewhere with a good range of beers, that did a good burger to boot. DBGB definitely fitted the bill. We walked in without a reservation at 7.30pm, but by 8.30pm the place was packed. Service was fine, the back room (with its copper pans and cooking paraphenalia lining the walls) had a nice atmosphere about it, and the burger was a meal in its own right (though we managed to shoehorn in starters and desserts too, 'just to see what they're like'). A good, relaxed night out.
