“Great Hotel!”
Reviewed August 29, 2014

just returned from 4 nights at the Kimpton Eventi. Great hotel! My husband had stayed here on business and really enjoyed it so we booked for our 10th anniversary. The front desk staff and bellman are amazing. They had a bottle of champagne chilling in our room which had an amazing view -you can't beat the Empire State building all lit up at night! Very good restaurant - Humphrey's and a fabulous happy hour wine service free of charge. Also coffee, great teas and 3 papers included every morning. The room was a good size for NYC, beds comfy and Frette linens and robes. I met a number of guests who stay there repeatedly when they are in NYC on business and pleasure, so that in itself is a good recommendation. Would stay here again in a heartbeat. Kudos to this hotel for making a fine effort and succeeding! Wonderful, friendly staff every day from start to finish!

Room Tip: Higher floors are super quiet

Green Features: Good - they encourage using less towels. Local plants and trees on terrace areas

From check-in to luggage storage, attentive, friendly and helpful staff were ready to assist. Our room was clean and roomy- with very comfortable beds. It had good views of the skyline. Breakfast was fresh and delicious. And the 5 o'clock cocktail hour on the veranda was delightful. The hotel is located within a 5 minute walk from Penn Station, Macy's or the Empire State Building.

Spent 5 nights in early August. Second time at this Kimpton location. All their staff friendly and only too willing to answer your questions and make you feel like your a "special" guest.
Morning coffee, choice of three different newspapers, ice water and a free wine hour every night are additional reasons to be a Kimpton frequent flyer. Location via subways and attractions is optimal. Given a corner room, without asking for it, and it was a larger space than we expected.
Definitely returning here.

Room Tip: corner room was larger than regular room of this category.

4th stay in this hotel. The first time a year ago (Aug.2014) was nice but since it has been going down.
The service is really low quality.
In addition, the hotel is going un der some renovation and and there is one elevator working from the lobby for the entire hotel ... unbelievable for a 500$ a night hotel !
There are much better option for this price in New York

Room Tip: find another hotel

Very small lobby and limited common areas. The hotel is building a new lobby, so it takes 2 elevators to get up to a room. We were gone all day and wanted to come back to the hotel to freshen up and rest before heading out for the evening. At 4 PM both Sunday and Monday we had to ask housekeeping to make up the room, which meant we had to vacate for 30 minutes just when we most wanted to be in the room.
We stayed three nights and had a small, quiet, clean room with great view of the Empire State building.
This is a good location if you plan to walk the Highline, and there is a subway line closeby.

Room Tip: Higher floors are much quieter.

LSueMoo - Thanks for your review of your stay with us. We are happy to read that you found your guest room quiet, clean and you enjoyed the view of the Empire State Building. Sorry to read that the temporary elevator transfer detracted from your stay but the good news is that was just for a few days and that's in the past. We are here and ready to serve, hope to see you again!

We spent 6 nights here recently and had a wonderful stay. The rooms are a good size (for NYC), are stylishly decorated and with all the amenities you could need, including an iPod dock. The bed was very comfortable and the room had sunblock curtains so you can enjoy a sleep-in.

Amazing views and extremely friendly staff. The wifi was free and fast, and the location was great too. We really enjoyed the "small hotel" feeling instead of the larger chains.

Oh, and don't miss the wine reception held daily. It makes a perfect start to an evening out in the city, and is a very nice touch which separates the Eventi from other hotels. Would highly recommend and hope to return one day!

This is a fine and comfortable hotel, right in the middle of things. Very comfortable and well-isolated rooms, good beds, spacious bathroom, killer views of the Imperial State Building. Both housekeeping and reception staff were very friendly. Pleasant glasshouse restaurant which doubles as breakfast room (the buffet is good). The price is steep, however - as for any good hotel in Midtown. I would come back here.
