My three favorite words as a traveler: You have been upgraded

I went from a regular room to a room with a city view. Be careful with the city view as it comes with an actual noisy city. I am always grateful for an upgrade, but if you have a city view request it on a higher floor

First, I like Klimpton hotels. They are different than most with good service and an eclectic type of atmosphere. The rooms in NYC are small, but well executed with a really good walk in shower and rainfall shower head(don't mock, try it). The lobby is sleek and dark as expected but there is no buzz or excitement like the Hudson or Paramount. Maybe its because the restaurant is on a different floor

The location is good if you want accessability to Chelsea, Times Square and its a block from Penn Station. Of course its not a place to stay if you like Central Park(but you probably knew that). The weight room is decent with a few machines, 3 tread mills and a few bikes

Overall, it is a good hotel. The people are good, but its a place to sleep, not to hang out and have fun

Room Tip: If its on Broadway then request a higher floor

Stayed here on a business trip in a king size room. The room was beautiful, had a very nice bathroom, great view, was very clean. The service and room service was also fantastic. I'd definitely recommend it.

My wife and I went to NYC for a night out on the town. Made reservation on line for one of their suites. Top notch place, great service, great room. The only negative thing is very Expensive parking, $50.00 not even per nigh, every time you go in and out is $50. So if you drive to the hotel, park in a near by parking spot. The room was $500. a night, I think parking should be included or a least reduced, but this NYC,.

We LOVE Kimpton Hotels, but this one did not measure up. The outside is inviting with glowing green/blue/purple lighting at night. The lobby was dark and rather dreary - a drab contrast to nearby Times Square. Check-in was smooth and as a Kimpton In Touch member, they honored my request for a room on a high floor and delivered a paper every day. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom had ample space. However there were too many issues during our weekend stay to rate more than a 3 star, especially for the price. On day 2, the lobby underwent extensive construction and continued throughout our stay, although this was not mentioned when we made the reservations. The dust smell was terrible even tho they hung heavy curtains to block off the area. The concierge staff seemed to disappear when we needed them the most at the front door; perhaps they were all on the 4th floor where they moved the check-in counter. Our refrigerator died on the evening we needed it to store food we brought home - and needed to be switched out late at night when we just wanted to go to bed! Slow drain in the bathroom sink was reported but did not improve. Cable was spotty and we are not able to watch certain television channels during windy nights. They store a yoga mat in the closet for your use but we would have much preferred a coffee machine in the room. Early Saturday morning the fire alarm went off for about 10 minutes then shut off. It went off again within the hour and then shut off. It repeated a third time followed - finally - with a message that said all was clear. Would have liked to have heard that the first time!!! They left a note under the door saying it was an issue in the kitchen and the FD responded. However, that did not really answer the 2nd and 3rd alarm! We assumed the construction crew hit an electrical snag. We usually LOVE Kimpton Hotels and choose them first if available in cities we frequent. They are more expensive but usually worth it because you feel pampered. This one just did not measure up. Luckily I booked at the last minute and got a last minute deal or it would have been even more painful.

Room Tip: ask for a high room on the Empire State Building side. Not much of a view otherwise.

poipoi29494 - Thank you for your feedback and we are sorry to read of your disappointment. We'd like to apologize for the alarm this past Saturday morning as we understand it is not an ideal way to start ones day. We did have a legitimate concern on the second floor of the hotel and our emergency systems acted appropriately. Furthermore apologies, we did have some unrelated essential and unavoidable engineering works that did cause us to relocate our front desk this weekend, but we are back in our normal location on the lobby level. We look forward to the opportunity to welcome you back. Thanks.

Rooms are attractive, clean, and surprisingly spacious. Bathrooms are modern and spotless. Service is friendly and speedy. Location is perfect - walk to Penn Station, close to 34th St subway. Pret a Manger right around the corner for a speedy breakfast.

I travel to New York city a couple times a year for technology conferences and other events. Whenever possible, I will choose the Eventi because the room and experience are always outstanding. For personal trips, the hotel is always one of the more affordable modern luxury options (hence the 99% comment) - which is relative in Manhattan depending on demand (seen rates range from $200-$600). A comparable room for size and view seem to cost twice as much in other parts of Manhattan.

Pros:
- Brand new modern rooms in center of Manhattan.
- Upgraded rooms are very large with two person tiled showers and excellent views of Empire State.
- Wine hour is so much fun - especially on the rooftop location they do once a week.
- Kimpton service in heart of New York - if you forget anything, they will bring it including tooth brushes, tooth paste (Tom's which is a nice choice), floss, humidifier, etc.
- Great organic coffee options in lobby during morning hours.
- Location is close to Union Square and metro; and we enjoy this corner of Manhattan since it's much less busy than midtown/times square.
- Hotel never feels crowded.
- Staff is excellent and greet you with a smile near the elevators to welcome you back.
- Enjoy in-touch perks such as complimentary wifi and raid the mini bar (NYC gives you a couple extra bucks compared to other cities)
- If you're celebrating a birthday, let them know as you'll receive an amazing gift of local gourmet chocolates which were outstanding.
- Hotel restaurant is very nice with a unique outdoor patio for non-winter evenings. Food is reasonable and wait staff is not stuffy at all if you choose to eat in a quiet corner just outside the restaurant.

What could have been better:
- My minor complaint is that I seem to receive promotions for Kimpton properties immediately after checking in (happened in San Diego as well); but the hotel will not honor the discount after the room is reserved.

Room Tip: Upgrade to room with view of Empire State.

Our experience at Eventi was fantastic from start to finish. My husband and I checked in for a night to celebrate our first anniversary, and we were delighted with the hospitality, cleanliness, and overall experience. Upon arriving, our room was upgraded to one with a better view, which we had requested upon making the reservation. They accommodated our early arrival by allowing us to check in at noon rather than having us wait until two. The concierge, Jason, was very welcoming and sent us a bottle of champagne, a card, and a cupcake to celebrate our anniversary! I The room was beautiful, clean, and had an incredible view. Everything about our stay at Eventi was enjoyable, and we look forward to returning. Thank you! If only all hotels provided such hospitality...
