We chose the Trump over Greenwich and Crosby Street because we were travelling with our 7 month old. We knew that we may have demands that would bore and overwhelm a traditional boutique hotel and didn't want the hassle of having to deal with potential problems with unaccustomed staff. Unfair on the other two candidates this may be, we wanted the reassurance of a big brand that was not standard run of the mill.

We were right. These guys were unbelievable. We had endless tedious requests; kettles, pillows, robes, towels, sitters, cars, dinner reservations, spa treatments and so forth. Nothing was too much and always accompanied by a smile.

We ate in the new restaurant and had great sushi and great cocktails despite arriving at 2330 after the US Open had been won by a fellow Scot!

Breakfast was fine but nothing special; we headed out after the first morning. The spa was fab and massages were out of this world.

Our room was on the 37th floor and had views over NJ which were stunning and the premier king was spacious and comfortable. A/C was maybe a bit intrusive, being thermostat based and kicking in whenever it thought the temp was a bit high - usually 15 minutes after I thought it was a bit hot...

Will come back though. Great place.

Room Tip: The higher the better. Premium rooms probably worth it.

I searched and compared many hotel rooms, this was by FAR the best. $400, which is not bad for NYC. Twice the size of other rooms in its price range, gorgeous rooms with great views, a separate living room: big screen TV, comfy beds, couch. Mini bar, microwave, espresso machine. The bathrooms were amazing, also incredibly spacious. Big tub, shower, second TV and phone. The hotel is in a great location. Walking distance or short cab ride to everywhere we wanted to go. The restaurant there, Koi was nice. Good food but a little disappointed there wasn't even an aquarium in there since the Koi in LA has ponds and actual KOI. There's a pool in the Trump, rare in NYC, but it was too cold when we went. And a library, spa. Overall, great hotel. Staff was nice except for the one grumpy bellman. We saw free champagne/strawberries in the lobby one night but were rushing out to dinner. Didn't see that again, boo! They should offer that every night and free juice or coffee in the AM. Bagels? Still, I would go back for sure!

We have stayed at this Trump twice. The first time in 2010 when it was brand new and our more recent trip this August. Both times we had outstanding and friendly service. It is nice to be located in Soho, but slightly removed from the crowds of Soho shoppers and tourists you find in the summer. It is also nice to find a luxury hotel in this area that is comfortable for families.
This trip we booked on the Trump web site. On our first trip we booked through Expedia and got a really good rate, the problem with that was that rate gave you probably the worse room in the hotel--low floor, no window in the bathroom, in fact the bathroom looked nothing like the cool ones on the website. However, you get what you pay for and we still enjoyed our stay and found the service to be excellent.
This trip I paid extra for a higher room and the difference was huge. We had a corner room with two walls of windows (too bad the TV is located right in the middle of one) and an amazing bathroom. When our air conditioner failed during the second day for our stay, the hotel was not able to fix it right away, so they moved us to a larger room on a higher floor. It was not a corner room but larger and you could see all of Soho and even the Lower East Side. Just gorgeous. The bed was outstanding and it was great to have a tub with a view! Each room has an espresso/coffee machine and microwave--very convenient.
The front desk staff could not be nicer or more friendly and even greeted guests with champagne at check in one night. The concierge in person was friendly and helpful, but over the phone had been a bit short.
The only downsides to this visit were the pool and food.
On our first stay the pool had just opened, so we enjoyed swimming there and sitting on the terrace. Well, the pool area has now been discovered. On a Saturday in August it was absolutely jammed, no place to sit or even walk--wall to wall people. Immediately we left only to be met with a 15 minute line just to get to the elevator to leave the pool area.
As for food--there was none. The restaurant was closed for renovation (it is now open and called Koi) and you could not get to the pool bar for a bite or glass of wine due to the pool crowds. It was a bit frustrating, but it was Soho, so you were never far from a cafe or restaurant if you could manage to pull yourself away from the hotel. There is another bar called the library that I somehow missed, maybe next time.

Room Tip: High up--no traffic noise and great views.

Because every complaint I might have had during my stay was addressed, I have nothing but praise for the hotel. The accommodations are Huge by NYC standards, fabulous with well thought of and extremely convenient amenities, no complaints whatsoever there. The beds are beyond comfortable, bathrooms are well planned with beautiful accessories and bath/beauty products. Staff is very helpful and well mannered(with a few exceptions at the reception desk). The most helpful being Mella and Daniel at reception, Dan in reservations, and Denniese in operations. I have yet to meet kinder and more helpful hotel staff in all my travels. Truly a Gem in Soho, and real value for money.

Room Tip: as for a room with a view of the Empire State Building and 6th Avenue. Breathtaking.

If you’re looking for a luxury hotel away of midtown and all the tourist confusion, Trump SoHo is the best choice. Good location to all lower town attractions, restaurants and bars. The rooms are great with state of the art technology and a cool ceiling to floor windows with a fantastic view and the bathroom is gorgeous and very spacious. Great service and a nice restaurant. The only downside is the A/C that is pretty noisy.
