Best hotel experience and will be back

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Sep 11, 2011
I travel all over the world and rarely ever feel compelled to write a review but my experience at this hotel, additionally combined with a challenging weekend of hurricane and cancelled flights, demonstrated that this hotel and its staff are a class act, caring, and personable with all of the 5 star trimmings and service that you expect.

Congratulations to the staff of this hotel. I will definately be back to stay with you when in New York.

Location was good with subway close by. We felt very comfortable staying at this hotel mostly due to the friendly atmosphere. The staff always had a smile when they greeted you and actually made you feel like you were a special guest. The room itself was quite large and had tons of natural light with a warm relaxing atmosphere. The bathroom was large and the bed was absolutely amazing!!!

We stopped by to ask for directions and the bell hop was so eager to help us find our destination, that he walked us in right to the front desk, where we were given spectacular service and we weren't even guests of the hotel. He made sure we were taken care of and certain about where we were going on our way out too. A pleasure.

We chose this hotel after a great deal fo research due to having a two bedroom suite. We had never stayed in Soho before but we have a ten month old so we wanted to stay in a little bit more of a neighborhood environment. It was a great find. The rooms were perfect for our needs. We were able to put a crib in one room and hang out in the other after baby bedtime. The location was great. We used a stroller to go everywhere because we have a baby so we did all of our commuting by subway which was extremely simple. The E train is almost right out the front door of the hotel. We used it to go to Flushing Meadows for the US Open, Yankee Stadium, the Financial District and everywhere in between. The staff was excellent. Cullen was a great concierge, Rashawd was an excellent bellman and the rest of the staff was very courteous. They arranged our airport transportation seamlessly. We used the swimming pool in the afternoon on the 7th floor and it was very refreshing. We had a corner room on the 22nd floor that faced NW as one the bedrooms and the view was the best I have ever seen in NYC. We could see the Empire State building, the skyline and Central Park all the way up 6th avenue. The view out the other window was across the Hudson and was gorgeous also. The room has computer controlled curtains, lights and a/c which were great. The television channels had great choices also. The bathrooms were roomy with seperate shower and tub. I cannot imagine that another hotel in NYC is as spacious as the Trump Soho. I didn't use the workout facility but I visited the area and it was a nice room with the cardiovascular equipment facing out for great views. We were not so high that we could not hear street noise but it was not too bad. Within 4 blocks each direction there were restaurants and shopping. A Whole Foods Market was also within walking distance. With a baby, we were close enough to walk to the World Trade Center and Union Square. We made several trios down Spring street to Viva la Crepe which had fantastic crepes and we enjoyed nearby restaurants such as Hundred Acres, Amelias, and Wolfgang puck steakhouse. The hotel rooms and location far exceeded everything we were looking for in our stay. The two bedrooms adjoined through keyed entry way with one room having the living area attached directly. The rooms did have a microwave but only had a mini bar refrigerator that was not exactly designed for storing things and did not have a freezer component for freezing our dry ice packs.

Room tip: A corner room on the south west will give you a view of the Freedom Tower and the NW corner a view of central park, and the Empire State bg

The Trump Soho is a Hotel/Condo complex providing spacious rooms with kitchenette in Soho. The rooms have a sofa and - what I appreciated a lot - a Nespresso coffee machine with complementary capuslar. On the 7th floor is a small outside pool, a bar and a small boule court! GREAT! Minus points are the extremly slow elevators which sometimes make you wait an eternity and the more than soft matrazes.

If you get a good rate, definately a good place to go.

Just got back from a long weekend trip at the Trump Soho, rooms were good and clean, service was good….all be it a little slow at times, front desk/concierge were often short staffed and you had to stand in line, view from our jnr suite on the 29th floor was outstanding..maybe one of the best views I have come across in the city, location perfect for a short walk into the heart of Soho. So on a practical level the hotel is absolutely fine. The “problem” I had with the Trump is that something was missing, it’s almost like the hotel had no heart or soul! It lacks the vibrancy and buzz of a true New York hotel, when you return to the hotel after a day out, you don’t feel like you have arrived anywhere. I don’t think it can make its mind up what it wants to be…trendy or luxurious…at the moment it’s not really either.

Room tip: Higher the better..view is unreal.
