“A delight!”

We managed to book a table in the busy restaurant on a Tuesday night. The welcome was sincere, the staff well trained and the food was fabulous. A very relaxing ambience and definitely worth a visit. We will be back when next in town!

“They earn their two Michelin stars !”
Reviewed November 9, 2013

There is a phrase in theater, "breaking the fourth wall," which means letting the audience in on the performance, admitting it is a play. In the good old days, in a high end restaurant, this is exactly what the wait staff never did. Nowadays, the waiter shows up and tells you his name. In those same good old days, the only people who called a waiter by his first name were boors. Despite many crazy things happening at our table with my daughter and her peers and various comments, the fourth wall was never broken at Marea.

The service is impeccable. It is always there when needed, It is never obtrusive. And it is perfect. And that is just the start.

The food is superb, well presented, excitingly seasoned, made from fresh ingredients and all that you expect from one of the best Italian seafood restaurants in New York. The risotto was that special. The wine selection was fabulous. All in all, what you hope for in a reastaurant.

“Good seafood; good service”
Reviewed November 8, 2013

Lovely restaurant on Central Park South. The food is well prepared -- seafod is fresh and light. The garlic soup with clams was excellent, and the branzino with mushrooms was good. The bread is fresh and good -- get the focaccio with olives. Everyone seemed happy with their choices.

Service is excellent, attentive but not smothering. I understand why this is a 2-star michelin restaurant.

Not cheap -- $45 prix fixe for a 2 course lunch. With wine, tax, tip, and some people ordering dessert, we ended up paying $75 a person. Keep in mind that the portions are small (it was okay for me since I wanted a light meal, but if you are very hungry, this may not be the right place).

“Best meal I had in NYC”

The service was great and friendly and the food was amazing. The Brandade appetizer was lovely, the fresh pasta wonderful and the halibut was melt in your mouth. The dessert of chocolate cake and pistachio gelato was yummy. Highly recommend this restaurant.

“GLITZY GOOD FOOD”
Reviewed November 8, 2013

For the last few years it has been hidden by the scaffolding of the old apartment building at the corner of CPS and Columbus Circle. Like a butterfly it has emerged.
Crisp clean shining décor with and interesting menu. The lobster with burata was creative and light and the mushroom risotto floated.
The service was as crisp as the décor.

I look forward to returning soon and sampling further dishes.
