“Prix fixe was great but lots of food”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

Can't decide between sushi and Italian - try Marea. My husband and I each ordered the Prix Fixe and could barely roll out of Marea. The food was delicious and the atmosphere is lovely. Pretty but not stuffy. They have amazing raw fish appetizers - we both ordered a trio. The octopus was delicious, my husband loved the lobster. For pasta, I had the agnotti filled with lamb. It was amazing, truly a rich flavor. Hubby had pasta with octopus and marrow. Very tasty but we both liked the lamb best. Entrees were scallops and swordfish. I was already getting pretty full but the sauce that came with the scallops was soo good. The swordfish was fine but not as good. I could barely manage dessert - but it was so delicious I ate it anyway. I got the chocolate mousse - yumm. Husband got something with an amazing apricot gelato on top. Everything was very beautifully done. They got us out in time for the theatre too. Well done Marea.

“Pricey but worth it”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

We had a dinner for a special occasion and the dinner experience was excellent. They have a good selection of wine list and delicious Italian food. Some of us had fish, some had meat and some went for pasta; all of which were very good. Especially the desserts were outstanding. The service is slow but this may be good to enjoy a nice and relaxing evening. The portions are not large at size but the bread is so delicous that when the meals are served, you already are almost full.

“Great,light lunch”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

We were not planing on eating here but as we were walking by and decided to see if we could get a table...really glad we did. Beautiful understated decor and ambience. We had the Tuna and grilled octopus for apps-both excellent. Had the clam and octopus pastas for mains, again both were superb. Portions were just right. Dessert shared a unique and wonderful panna cotta with fruits. We had a couple glasses of their Sancerre and followed with an amazing Sicilian red(Benanti). We were their 4th of July weekend (quiet in NYC)so we were able to walk in. Otherwise reservations are likely a must.

“Central Park South elegance personified”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

We thoroughly enjoyed a Sunday lunch at this fine restaurant.

The food, service, decor and ambience are excellent. The wine list is exceptional.

It is expensive so for many individuals, couples and families, this would be a 'splurge'!
