I visited this place for the first time twoo year ago on a business trip. I had a wine dinner there.

This is an mazing place, with superb food ( Mediterranean/ Portuguese Influence ) with a great wine list and a superb service. Staff will advise you on what to have as well as the best wine to go with. Amazing deserts as well.
This place is a "must go".

From the delicious bread (choice of a wheat bread and olive bread) to the amazing shrimp dish (the Shrimp Alhino--make sure you save some of that bread for dipping in the sauce) and the outstanding Mediterranean sea bass I had, I loved every second of this meal. The drink menu has some scrumptious cocktails and the dessert--a Meyer lemon tart--was great. Of course, that didn't stop me from stealing some of my husband's Sonhos (these puffy little donuts with dipping sauces). Yum!

Excellent food with extras that were great. The wait staff was attentive but not hovering. They even asked if any food allergies? How awesome is that. Great for couples special occasions or just visiting NYC.

In short- an excellent meal. I really enjoyed aldea and would go back again.

The dinner menu had plenty of great choices, but I went with the ramps and white asparagus as a starter. It was fantastic- I could easily have eaten a second plate. My wife ordered the shrimp appetizer which also was an excellent choice.

For the main course, I only had to see the words "suckling pig" to know what I was ordering. Served with pickled carrots/cauliflower and small clams- it was excellent.
Other entrees at the table looked just as good- hanger steak looked delicious and the striped bass was good (though I'm not a big fish fan)

Dessert- don't pass up the sonhos which are perfect little doughnut holes with salted caramel, lemon, and chocolate dipping sauces.

So to round up- great atmosphere, excellent food, doughnuts. What's not to love?

In a modern environment, professional and friendly service, a nice view of the kitchen and the staff working on dishes, this is a very interesting, elegant, light cuisine, especially if we compare it to the traditional, rich and caloric portuguese dishes.
We are surprised by the quality, inventiveness and care. Colorful and delicious, not to miss!
Interesting, though fairly limited wine list.
