“Good value casual fine dining restaurant”
Reviewed March 16, 2013

The food quality here is comparable to the other upscale fine dining restaurants in NYC but the price is very affordable. The 3-course prix-fixe is enough to fill you. The restaurant constantly brings complimentary samples. The dishes are artistic with great tastes. We ordered suckling pig, John Dorry, Steak etc. the whole family loved all the dishes. The restaurant has modern interior and is very quiet. It's great for family gathering.

“top-notch”
Reviewed February 24, 2013

More upscale than we usually dine...but the service was impeccable and the food delicious. My only complaint is that (as is typical in NY) the tables are so close together that we were forced to listen to our rather obnoxious neighbors' conversation. Clearly a very hip "scene" at the bar...(as middle-aged diners we were some of the oldest folks in the place)...but we'd go back for the outstanding Spanish fusion dishes.

“Modern Portuguese - Excellent”
Reviewed February 20, 2013

The food was splendid, the prices a bit high but expected, the show was fun, and the service was stellar. I agree to a degree with some of the lower rating reviews but seriously, the ambiance and staff made up for the food imperfections.

Foie gras terrine - some of the best I've had.
Soft boiled egg in shiitake broth - slightly oversalted but incredible texture.
Venison with cabbage - just a tad on the dry side but the cabbage was great.
Salted pork - probably one of the best dishes I've ever had.
Chocolate tart with saffron foam - excellent
Sorbets - the salted chocolate and passion fruit sorbets were superb (the raspberry not so much)

“Mixed bag”
Reviewed February 19, 2013

Smallish restaurant with even smaller portions
Pluses:
Fresh quality food sometimes quite successful in innovating
My appetizer of bacalau chickpeas and orange was quite pleasing.
Desserts are a bit of a let down.
Minuses:
Service brisk to brusk taking glasses and dishes before you can finish, definitely detracting from the meal.
Nondescript rather cramped athmosphere and setting
Size of portions on the stingy side while prices are high
