“Fab place”
Reviewed June 6, 2013 via mobile

We stayed at 710 suites, 710 St Nicholas Ave in Harlem and had a great time. The accomodating was outstanding and much better value than other areas (see desperate review if interested in staying here). We loved this area of Harlem, the people were so friendly and we didn't feel so much like tourists, everyone really helpful and friendly. Local supermarket staff really good and whole area has a good feel. There was some sort of festival going on around the Hudson river park where locals were having various food and there was a band and dancing, again we didn't feel out if place and really enjoyed the whole atmosphere. Much preferred here than staying downtown and the express tube A only took 10 mins downtown Manhatten/Brooklyn so no problem at all

“Sunday walking tour of Harlem”
Reviewed May 31, 2013

In April a friend and I booked a Sunday walking tour in Harlem which included breakfast. The weather was spectacular. Neither of us had ever been to Harlem. Our guide was quite knowledgeable and we learned a lot of NYC history. And our perceptions of Harlem were turned upside down. How refreshing. I would go there again on my own, and I am a white, 70 year old woman.
The tour company was "Welcome to Harlem" and our guide that day was Carolyn Johnson. She was very perceptive in knowing at what point I would just have to sit down.

“Harlem shake”
Reviewed May 27, 2013 via mobile

Thinks a cool area of manhattan. I took a bus tour through here. It's definitely different from the rest of manhattan. It's currently going through gentrification process right now, which is making is more beautiful, but it's sad as its making it ok expensive for the current residents.

“North part of NY and wow”
Reviewed May 15, 2013

On one of our bus trips part of the ride was through Harlem, what an interesting neighbor hood. There are many interesting stories and even more interesting buildings that go along with the stories. We saw the Apollo where some of the best entertainers have played and Grants Tomb. There are many restoration projects happening in Harlem and the whole area is breathing new life. A must see when in NY.
