It's worth it to visit the Columbia campus just to experience the almost surreal feeling you get when you emerge from a city subway and enter a gorgeous Ivy league campus. And Morningside Heights is one of my favorite areas in New York: chill, funky, and residential.

A nice campus and doesn't feel like it's based in the middle of New York. Was nice to compare to Harvard and MIT as I'd visited those in MA. Lots of history and fine architecture here.

The campus is steeped in history. Much more beautiful than you think it might be -- unlike NYU. Check out the new Joe's coffee in northwest corner building. Best coffee in manhattan. Sorry Starbucks.

Columbia University is one of the things in New York that attract many people.
It is the oldest institution of higher learning in the state of New York, the fifth oldest in the United States, and one of the country's nine Colonial Colleges founded before the American Revolution.
Several buildings on the Morningside Heights campus are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The architecture is very nice. While you there, DO NOT miss St. Paul's Chapel. It's breathtaking !!!
St. Paul's Chapel is the chapel of Columbia University in New York City. Designed and built from 1904 to 1907 by I. N. Phelps Stokes of the architectural firm Howells & Stokes in an elaborate mixture of Italian Renaissance, Byzantine, and Gothic styles, its interior features Guastavino tile vaulting in intricate patterns of aged red brick. Three stained glass windows by John La Farge adorn the apse.
Definitely a place to see.

Columbia University, at 116th St between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue, is one of the most beautiful urban spaces in the world. The best times to go are spring and fall, when thousands of students gather on the steps of Low Library to celebrate the outdoors and their good luck at being able to attend this extraordinary place. It is a 'not to be missed' visit.
