“Lot to see”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 11, 2013

Little Italy which is on mulberry street has a lot to see. The street itself is full of life. Lots of people, lots and lots of food and fun. We went there by about 11 a.m when the shops were just opening for the business. The guide told us though it is called Little Italy, not many Italians live there. Most of them have moved to Brooklyn and Statin Island.
The street is very well decorated and you can enjoy taking a walk there and eating lovely food.
We get lot of authentic Italian Pastries Coffee. Some nice bakery products are also available.

“Lots of atmosphere but the food was disappointing”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 9, 2013

We went during the San Gennaro festival, when the main street is packed with stalls and people. Heaps of fun, provided you don't mind crowds, and there was a great atmosphere. Great to see some historic photos on walls, showing what the strip looked like 100 years ago. But the restaurant we tried (can't remember its name - there are dozens) was really, really average. Admittedly, they were all very busy, but still, we've had better, more authentic Italian at our $5 pasta joint back in Australia. I think the best bet would be to tour the main drag and go get a meal a little further afield, away from the tourist trap.

“Sightseeing and dessert”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2013

This street still has a lot of charming sights so I sometimes pass through it for nostalgia when I'm in this area. It is one of those rare places in the US where one is able to purchase gelato and Italian pastries. Once, I had a small birthday celebration at Ferrara Cafe and it was good. I remember when Little Italy used for be bigger and the fair went for blocks and stretched across Canal St.

“San Genaro's Wonder”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 2, 2013

We were very lucky in our visit to New York in September to coincide with San Genaro Fest and to stay in a hotel close to Little Italy.
During 10 days Little Italy changes its unexceptional face and Mullberry Street iturn in a big mundane feast of New Yorkers and turists. More than 2 million people visited Little Italy during San Genaro' s Feast and enjoyed Italien Food on the temporary built terraces of the classic Italian restaurants. A beautiful spectacle!
