“NYC Day Trip 12/30/13”
Reviewed January 6, 2014

The Staten Island Ferry is a gem of a deal and a good way to travel to lower Manhattan.
It's only $8.00 to park all day and the ferry ride itself is free! The ride is very scenic and
is worth a visit if just to take a round trip ride. I've used the ferry many times and it sure beats driving into Manhattan. From the ferry terminal you can walk, pick up the subway or jump on
the various Hudson and East river ferry services to get you further along into NYC. I highly
recommend the Staten Island Ferry.

“A highlight of our trip”
Reviewed January 4, 2014

We really enjoyed our trip on the ferry - great to just sit and soak up the views.

Check the weather forecast for when you want to go - we rearranged our plans and ended up going on a day when the sun came out ... the following day it was snowing!

“Nice Free thing to do for tourists”
Reviewed January 4, 2014

This is a nice free thing to do for tourists. It isn't the best way to see the Statue of Liberty, but it'll do if you can't reserve tickets to go see Lady Liberty in person and up close.

On average boats run every 30 minutes. I've found them always to be on time.

Note that very few subway stops are open in southern manhattan due to damage from the hurricane. To my knowledge only 1 line (the red line) comes down this far. The E train comes to the world trade center, but the orange and green lines do not come down past Canal Street currently due to fixing the place in the aftermath of the hurricane last year.

One hour round trip to do the boat ride. I only wish they let you go on the back of the boat, which they no longer let you do.
