Seeing the Statue of Liberty was tops on my daughter's NYC vacation wish list, so a ride on the Staten Island Ferry was a must. The subway dumps you right there at the station and it's a comfortable, air-conditioned wait for the boat.

Once aboard, there was plenty of space along the railings for viewing the statue as we crossed (right around sunset on a Wednesday evening), with a pleasant breeze and absolutely magnificent views.

This was easily one of our favorite parts of our visit to NYC, and definitely one that we will do again on future visits! Doesn't hurt one bit that it's ABSOLUTELY FREE!!

It was a very hot day. Boat was huge, no crowds (only while you wait for it). On the way there, Manhattan behind you and you can't stop taking pictures. Statue of Liberty is on your right, and it gets close enought to get good pictures. And its free. About 20min ride. We got off and in 5min got the next one on the way back. It was amazing.

We make frequent overnight trips into New York and have previously cruised around the city on a couple of occasions. This ferry is a great way to see views of Govenors Island, Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty as well as New York. It ususally leaves every half hour and you must exit the ferry at the other end but can get right back on for the return trip. It's also a great way to visit New York from New Jersey. There is parking available at reasonable prices (if you are doing a round trip there is street parking near thte terminal) and subway stops close to the terminal on the New York side. Walking distance to Battery Park and 9/11 Memorial as well as the Seaport. The terminal and Ferries were clean with outside decks for sightseeing. Get a spot by the rail when you first board for good viewing. Many people sit down and then others stand in front of them blocking the view. Change sides for the return trip and have a different view.

Great ferry! The terminal is so clean. So it makes waiting so much easier. The ferry is so big that even with a crowded group, everyone can find a seat. However, most people stay outside to watch the beautiful skyline and to see the Statue of Liberty. It's about a 15 min ride to Staten Island. Some parts of the ferry may be closed off. But all in all, great way to take pictures. Plus, it's free!

The ferry is huge with plenty of seats and is free. There is no need to que at that door, a local told me, those are tourists lining up.They make you get off and come back on if you are going round trip, instead of just letting you stay on. I was using a cane and it seemed a bit of trouble. I went at dusk and had excellent views of the Manhattan and Brooklyn skylines and the Statue of Liberty.
