“Do it - it's free!!!!”
Reviewed January 8, 2013 via mobile

It may be public transport and it may be a little old but there is No better way of getting up front and personal with lady liberty than on the ferry.

The views Of manhattan and the Brooklyn bridge are fantastic - I got some of my bet photos of the trip on the ferry

And you know what - it's free!!!!

Just avoid the commuter times, sit back (in warm clothes) and enjoy!!!

Thank James D

“New York City Landmark”
Reviewed January 7, 2013

This is one of those places you have to visit when you come to NYC. Its a famous landmark. Its free to ride the ferry. It transports people from lower Manhatten to Staten Island. It takes approx. 25 minutes to make the trip. On a sunny summer day its very enjoyable.

“It's transportation, after all”
Reviewed January 6, 2013

As a tourist shuttled unto the SIFerry, it was obvious that we were intruding on many people's regular mode of transportation, from suited business men to high schoolers looking for something free to do. There were many of us tourists though because the Statue of Liberty Island and Ellis island are still closed due to Hurricane Sandy.

The ferry isn't spectacular, but it is free, which is pretty cool, and you can see the Statue of Liberty. Also, while we didn't spend all that much time on Staten Island, there was a yummy pizza place up the first hill.

“Cheap way to see manhattan skyline”
Reviewed January 6, 2013

Loved the ferry trip across to Staten Island especially if you manage to catch a ferry with outdoor seating. It is free and a great way to see the manhattan skyline and the statue of liberty. It will not get you as close to the statue as a paid tour however it is close enough to get good pictures and it is FREE.

“A nice way to see the Liberty Statue”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

This ferry is free of charge thus very busy. From Manhattan ride on the right side of the boat to have a premium view on the Statue. Once in Staten Island every body has to get out and wait for the return boat... which actually was the same one...
